Hanging with Mr. Gromicko

I?ve been ensconced at NACHI world headquarters for a week now and, though I?ve known Nick for about four years professionally, this was my first opportunity to spend virtually every waking moment with him and I think that I have enough material already to pitch a mini-series to the networks.

Nick essentially devotes 14 plus hours a day to NACHI and the other 10 to his family. To my knowledge, he does not sleep.

There are about six of us here in an office whose dimensions are about 20? x 30? working on various projects for the membership. Nick sits to my right multi-tasking like a banshee ? answering his hundreds of email inquiries, taking phone calls from members, and pitching every idea to improve membership benefits that enters his cranium for commentary.

Eventually, we go to lunch where we are regularly approached by locals attracted by Nick?s legendary bonhomie. He seems to know everybody and everybody seems to know him.

One night we went to a local casino to chill and started playing a computer version of blackjack. We lost a few bucks. Nick went back by himself the next night and figured out the machine?s strategy and won $300. The next night I went back with him and he won another $160. Using Nick?s strategy, I played for three hours and lost $10, an amazing feat in its own right.

I did the poker machine thing in Montana for Lorne Steiner and Bruce and Judy Kirby one night… so I picked up the tab.

I can generally earn $50-$75/hour tax free if I find a certain type of poker machine.

Beats working for a living. ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif)

Ray -

Yes. But the turnkey is a soft touch and the female/male ratio is outstanding.

Joe, I believe it when you say he doesn’t sleep - there!

I was so much looking forward to hanging out with Mr. Party NACHI last spring up here, but all he did was sleep when not flying from one NACHI meeting to another across state.

I guess we’re not a fast enough pace for Ol’ Speedy!
