Southern Methodist University ( SMU ) in Dallas, Texas ( I beleave its actually University Park, Tx)


was founded in 1911. It has utilized slate tile in 85% of its roofing systems.


The reason is that it lasts many life times.


It very well may be expensive per unit (tile) but you only have to replace one or two or even a half dozen every 50 years.

Of course, that is if they are properly installed. Underlayment and proper attachment are the key.
