Outstanding idea.

My advice is to steer clear of "code" violations, as they can vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Also, what is called for as being needed by the Code, may not be okay with the local AHJ.

There are plenty of repo properties in Dallas and the surrounding areas that would be perfect for this type of project. The time to buy is now while the price is good. I would even consider working on the project here!

A word of caution…

Being from the North East originally... I talk fast and got myself into trouble at a recent chapter meeting when I pronounced the word "horrors" with only one syllable.

Came out sounding like "House of Whores."

Thanks Nick! Great idea as usual.

OAHI has nothing like this.

CAHPI has nothing like this.

Maybe CAHPI would like to use the facility for training purposes as part of the National Certification process.

Maybe CAHPI would be interested in renting a small corner for their new national office. It sure would beat that high rent for a national office in Ottawa.

CAHPI it would appear is and has mislead a great deal of the inspectors in Canada. Then they foist their appointments and decrees on the rest of us with no consultation whatsoever. No one in OAHI or other provincial bodies which are affiliates of CAHPI have been consulted.

Those that dare speak out are ostracized. NACHI continually proves it's worth.

Keep up the good works.

Merry Christmas.

Congratulations on moving an excellent idea from concept to reality.

As one who has been critical of ideas that are promoted then seem to fade into oblivion, I am proud to say that I was wrong about this one.

I am proud to see it become a reality and look forward to more to come.

I was privleged to be one of the first to see this come to fruition. I attended the first inspection of the house of horrors as it was my class that did the inspection for their final exam. That it took them 2 1/2 hours to inspect and then by all accounts anoyher 2 to 3 hours to write up the report says alot about the condition of the house in general. If it is a defect in a property it can be found here. The furnace is on its last legs and there are no plans to upgrade. The air conditioning consists of a window mounted Sears ac unit that looks as if it will kack at the very moment it is turned on and it realises it has to go to work one last time. The plumbing system is a well and septic. The well is covered by a couple of 2x8’s that have seen better days and only the good lord knows what kind of shape the septic system is in. The last time it was emptied and documented was in 92 so… There is eveidence of animal infestation, to wit, racoons have seen fit to inhabit the building. They have since been evicted. And list goes on and on. Knowing Bob the way I do, you may be sure that all these things will be upgraded to their fullest extent in the future by making sure the next time you come to the house it will be all different and worse than the first time you went through it. Stay tuned to your local channels for further developments.

It is truly a learning experience.
