Very cool. icon_cool.gif

Is there any work being done to get the training approved by the various states to count for CE for our licenses?

As we do with our other technical education offerings we will submit this one to those states that offer CE approval, but don’t count on them giving it to us as I predict a few states will argue that a commercial inspection course has nothing to do with home inspections and to some extent they are correct.

We will also be seeking CE approval of this course for REALTORs as we see a big advantage to have commercial REALTORs attend this course side by side the NACHI members offering commercial inspections on the properties they sell.

I consider myself very blessed dealing with well educated commercial Realtors.

I'm sure you will have a market for the new ones though. Good Idea.

The state of Texas will accept a wide range of courses for CEU's. The following quote is from the back of the Education Evaluation form from TREC. A lot of Inspectors are not aware of this and miss out on opportunities for excellent training.

Quote:
To be acceptable, courses must be offered by one of the following:
1. a school accredited by TREC or by an inspector regulatory agency of another state;
2. an accredited college or university;
3. a unit of federal, state or local government;
4. a nationally recognized building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical or fire code organization;
5. a professional trade association; or
6. an entity whose courses are approved and regulated by an agency of the State of Texas.

If NACHI can have the training recognized by any of the above agencies then TREC will accept it. If NACHI can become recognized by the state of Texas as a professional trade association they can have many courses counted towards CEU's.

NACHI is already recognized in TX. I had that conversation with Sylvia Busk at TREC about 6 months ago.

So I guess we be covered in TX. ![icon_cool.gif](upload://oPnLkqdJc33Dyf2uA3TQwRkfhwd.gif)

Have you communicated with TREC lately about NACHI's status in Texas? Have you checked with them about acceptance of any formal NACHI educational courses? That could be a big help to Inspectors attending the NACHI convention in February.

This is a copy of the email from Sylvia with my initial email below. I was incorrect. It was a year ago.

Mr. Dacey,

Yes, we would accept real estate inspector continuing education from NACHI
as they are approved by the IRS and other states to offer continuing
education.

Thank you,
Sylvia Busk

So it looks to me that we’re good for any NACHI sponsored CE.

Patrick,

Very interesting! I attended that seminar this year in Austin. I filed my ICC certificate with TREC and was awarded 35 or 40 credit hours for it (don't remember exactly how many). That particular training event was being provided by the ICC of which TREC accepts all of their course work. The seminar was way more than needed for annual CEU's required.

By the way it was an exceptional seminar by ICC. They are having it again this February. You can't really beat the price either!!

Before you count those chickens NACHI needs to get an official stand from TREC.

Hello Richard,

I have no doubt that this will benefit all of NACHI. Training like this is going to be so much better than just watching a PowerPoint presentation. I think I understand where you are coming from. You are probably asking; why don't we have something like this in Florida? Why are the two new projects so far away from Florida since we have so many members?

Go look in the mirror and there you will find your answer. While we do have the most members in the country we have yet to organize a state association or any good local chapters. It seems that we have a little good and then things just seem to stop. Please don't take this the wrong way as I am at the head of the line for responsibility of this. I have no doubt that if we organized here in Florida we could do wonderful things like others are doing.

Reminder to NACHI members: Update your ancillary inspections at http://www.nachi.org/ancillary.htm if you offer commercial inspections.
