Does anyone have information on deciphering General Electric heat pumps? I have info on most models but can’t find a thing on GE. The model and serial numbers to the one in question are:

M- BWV924G110D0
S- 388580816

I'm guessing that 85' or 92' would be mfg year. Thanks, Bob W

Robert,

No such number in Prestons.

I see a lot of BW_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ but no match to your model number.

in BWV.

The closest number I can find is BWB924A-C and BWB924C. Both of these particular units were manufactured in 1980.

Thanks guys!

This is the trickiest one I have come across. Ironically, it’s in my own house that I am about to purchase. BW

Joe Hagerty guessed, but he is correct.

I double checked and model # is definitely - M- BWV924G110D0. I too found it strange that the number doesn’t show up anywhere. I have never had this much of a problem tracking a serial #

You are incorrect, my man.

David,

Why do you say that? My experience and even my ‘cheat sheets’ all refer to the serial number for the date of mfg. The model number of an appliance might be built for several or even many years. What am I missing?

David,

You'll notice in your first post that Prestons was of no help,

for whatever reason. Thirty years of experience with HVAC

taught me to rely mostly on the serial number for age and

model number for size. I've always been able to locate this

information and I don't use Prestons. Too frequently, in these

posts concerning equipment age, Prestons has been of no use...

...I've noticed that over the past year or so.

Serial No = age

Model No = rating

Jae,

Prestons utilizes model numbers only. Not serial numbers...

This is the first time I've ran into this problem (not finding a model number) with Prestons.

For the most part, Prestons does assist in determining the age of manufacture, but I'm just now realizing that it's not a perfect system.

I have been very disapointed with Prestons. So much so, that I rarely even bother to open the darn thing.

Besides, G/E was one of my most installed lines of equipment.
