CAHPI Home Inspector Loses Major Lawsuit
February 3rd, 2010
A Canadian inspector was successfully sued for nearly $200,000 by his former client following a negligent inspection. The inspector, Imre Toth, is a member of the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors (CAHPI).
The allegations against Mr. Toth are severe; he failed to recommend a proper engineer, berated his client and rushed through the inspection. Perhaps most grievously, he allegedly offered an estimate for the cost of repairs that was later found to be “negligent” and “woefully inadequate”. British Columbia uses CAHPI as a basis for licensing inspectors.
