Coming soon, defect recognition CD.

Most home inspection training is designed with one purpose in mind -  to educate inspectors to recognize defects in the real world, on site.

Defect recognition training is time consuming, expensive and only allows you to see and discuss a few real life images - over the course of  a few days.

Now - a compact disc - Defect Recognition for Home Inspectors Volume 1 -  that has:

  • Over 700 high quality digital photographs in all disciplines - Structure, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and so on.
  • Every photograph has a text description, identifying the problem.
  • A glossary, explaining all the most used (and misused) words and phrases. (Ever wonder how to explain "Stack effect" or what 'R' value really is?)
  • Animations to show how a toilet really works, how a Heat Recovery Ventilator exchanges warm stale air for warm fresh air, how spray humidifiers work and many others.
  • A section on truss joists - photo's and code descriptions with defects and explanations of blocking, web stiffeners and the proper way to use joist hangers.
  • And - best of all, the whole cd is searchable: Enter any words from ABS to Zonolite and the search engine will find the Glossary text and any related pictures or text on the cd.
  • And there's more: Web links to the most popular Home Inspection Associations,  and a whole section on report writing and how to avoid law suits.

The cd is written by Harry Bradford - a InterNACHI member - who has been doing inspections for over 13 years and is the author of the reporting system 'Your Home Inspection Report'.

The normal price will be $65.00 (plus S & H) but on the web site www.bowerstreet.ca there will be a InterNACHI link in the shop area - where InterNACHI members can buy it for $54.00 ( a 20% discount).plus S & H.

I expect the site to be live within 2 weeks and the cd will be available within about a week after that.

Volume 2 will be available later in the year.
