Defect:  Water heater (type details, location).  Base of water heater has major corrosion damage possibly from a damp/wet location in (basement) or leaking water vessel.  Current condition of water heater indicates further problems in this location of home.  Water heater lifespan is reduced and should be monitored for further deterioration.  The remaining lifespan cannot be determined but conditions such as this diminish manufacturer's lifespan ratings.
