Defect:  Improperly flashed drainage waste vent on roof (location).  The boot and vent has tar applied over metal boot instead of a metal flashing system.  Cracking is visible in tar and at pipe boot junction.  This is not a permanent seal method and will allow water intrusion in gaps between boot and pipe and enter the roofing system.  Major water intrusion can lead to major damage and costly repairs below this point.  Recommend boot to be replaced and properly installed by licensed, qualified roofing contractor.
