radon system loud

When we had our old addition rebuilt a few months ago, our mitigation system was turned off so we weren't working in exiting fumes. The new addition's roof is now higher than the old one so the exhaust pipe is now about 6 inches below the roof line. The code inspector said the pipe should be extended above the roof line but in the meantime the system is now making a loud humming noise that we can hear when we are outside or our windows are open. We think there is something wrong with the fan and called the installer. It was installed about 12 years ago. The installer says that we need a new fan because the system was turned off when our addition was being built, that we are not supposed to turn it off. Without looking at it, he says it will cost me $3000.00 to fix it. Is this correct? I thought I should have someone look at it before I commit and while they are here, have them adjust the exhaust so that it exits above the roof line. Or could the problem just be the exhaust venting below my roof?

If the only items in the report that are mentioned are items that are defective. No mention of any items that were ok or working properly.

Is this type of only reporting on what was defective ONLY a report that meets the NACHI Standards of Practice?

I did a radon test that scored 18, but the cannister pick up date and time was not marked, the buyer picked it up for me and mailed it in; without marking the time and day. So I did another radon test and this time the seller removed the bucket the cannister was setting on. My question is: Will this radon test be useable or accurate?

Why in the state of Florida on a 4 point inspection a 15 year life is used on shingle roofs? When the shingle is a 25 year shingle. Who dictates this 15 year life rule to the inspectors? This is ruining my ability to obtain afordable insurance. I am not willing to re-roof my house every 10 years. Please call me 941-924-7036. Thank you. Joan

I have just completed 4 online courses. They are all recognized by TN as CE hours. On two of them, the CE# printed under the credit hour box. On two of them, it did not. What do I do to verify that the state is getting ALL of these hours recognized?

exhaust venting for a stove

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to a venting question.

I am about to lease an office space. I am a non-profit that serves children in California. I want to put a stove/oven in the kitchen so I can make hot snacks and meals. The kitchen shares a wall with the bathroom. There is a vent in the bathroom that goes to the roof. I was wondering if we could connect the stove vent to the bathroom vent and avoid cutting another hole in the roof. If I can, what kind of ducting do I need to use?

I am not sure if this matters, but while the office space is office space now, it was once a restaurant.

Thanks so much
