When I was a kid I was helping demo an apartment building and pulled all the old thermostats removed the mercury vials then cut the ends off with a pair of side cutters. Poured it into a jar and went to the scrapyard. The guy looked at me like I had 3 heads. (didn't know it worked so fast,LOL). He made a phone call and gave my some $. Glad I made to 50 but this may explain the twitch
