That may be a good thing, from what I read and hear, most experienced HI professionals frown on inspectors, that supports, markets and exploits the public with bogus marketing tools like the CMI..

Starting a few years back, John, with the branding campaign --- it became a matter of what you can do for ASHI, not what they can do for you. In fact, this president of a dying chapter says as much in the close of his letter announcing the reduction in staff, membership and funds.

If you read their message board, and even the dribble that gets spilled on our message board by some of their stray cats...you don't hear about "what is right about ASHI". They can only obsess with what is wrong with us.

This is nothing more than the death rattle....signs that the end is nearer than they want to admit.

I don't engage them in discussion, anymore, but if I did...I would simply encourage these guys to just let go and walk toward the light. Their pain will soon be over if they just let go....

{Annual membership is $295. + $80.00 Fee = $375.00}

This would mean that they are losing approximately $139.70 per member per year. Somebody tell me that this is wrong! No wonder they are going broke!

It is also important to note, Frank, that the new members they get...they get as a result of paying people to get them.

I see from the on-line newsletter that we're going to be paying another consulting company. Anyone know the amount of the "necessary funding"?

I know. It was the amount necessary to hire the consultant with the best chance of doing the job that we felt needed to be done and getting it right.

I am no different than you with getting a lot of BS telemarketer calls, junk mail and spam that are promoted to me as a "NACHI member specials". With A$HI, I pretty much only get such crap in the form of junk mail. So as far as the annoyance factor, A$HI wins over NACHI in something.

What disturbs me about A$HI is that they seem to literally sell out the interests of their members and the livelihood of the organization itself for their "Affiliates". In particular it is their pushing of legislation on behalf of the 3-Day Inspector Academies and the various other vendors that profit from the mass influx of wannabe inspectors buying their crap. All I see NACHI doing is saying "Hey, offer our members a discount and we will give you a member list and let you endorse it as an exclusive deal". Gromicko letting InspectVue solicit their services through various mediums to me as an exclusive deal is much different than him fighting for legislation that would require all home inspectors to use a computer-based, full narrative inspection software program that includes thousands of industry standard narratives.

I get web hits and inspection jobs from NACHI every month.

Plus, I enjoy jobs because I'm a CMI.

I cry all the way to the bank when cracky ASHI members whine
about it.

Hi Dan,

It's been a long time.

I believe in being fair. There are some things about ASHI that I am not happy about one bit. In Illinois I find it very distasteful that many ASHI senior members are now local instructors that are telling everyone how easy it is to get rich in this business. What's my point? In Illinois I blame ASHI and the legislative dick heads for the lower inspection fees.

What do I like about ASHI? I really enjoy the monthly meetings with 30 year veterans of the business I can learn from. The education is sometimes weak but usually very good with inspection professionals - not salespeople. July is the fourth straight month I 'll be able to acquire state CE"s.

By the way you did ask a good question earlier...

What happened to the TV studios?......

I don't understand the Google stuff. Just too old, I guess. My "page rank" is only 3 out of 10, I read....but when you Google "missouri home inspector" I am the first non-school URL listed. I'm happy with that.

Nick,

I'm referring to the 10 I've booked in 12 months. I live in a very densely populated area where I come up first for a search. I only bring this up because everyone is taught to believe here that ASHI is a total waste of money. It's made me money.
