From the ASHI site? 10-12 a year.. Just did one today.
I asked the customer how he heard about ASHI, his answer, he saw it on one of the national TV home remodeling shows and had read about it in some home related publication....
Due to that He went to the ASHI site , checked out the membership / certification requirements and hired me, Who says branding and professional representation doesn't work

Brian,

Good point. Their inspector locator works very well - if the consumer is seeking an ASHI member. Brand recognition works.

I'm happy for ASHI inspectors. I have never felt threatened by them. They seem to attack NACHI, CMI and myself when I meet one on the internet. I just laugh them off because they seem like such a non issue to me.

ASHI or NACHI is not a big deal in Texas. People seem to like the CMI though. $$$$

I bought an A$HI membership almost a year ago just to see what it would be worth. It has generated 5 leads, 3 of which were not ardent price shoppers and consequently booked inspections. As much as I dislike A$HI, my membership has paid off in bookings. I have yet to even get a lead from a NACHI site, other than the stupid $40 "inspections".

That is all you need to know James, as long as you are on the first page.

Now if you ran a google adword campaign you would be on the top.

And that's why I have joined both. ASHI is still a very big deal in Illinois, at least in the north.

That's about 6 calls a month. Same for me... sometimes more, when the
housing sales were up. NACHI rocks.

They are a big deal in St. Louis, too, but only among the real estate salesmen....who won't refer them if they go over $200 for an inspection. If I ever get hit in the head with a rock or otherwise lobotomized and decide to start marketing to real estate salesmen, I'll join ASHI.

A couple of years ago, a client actually did ask me on the phone when he called if I was "ASHI". I asked: "Are you asking me if I belong to a national association that holds me accountable to inspection standards and a code of ethics?" He said "Yes." I said "I am." End of inquiry and on to booking the inspection.

No one has asked me, since, but I don't play with the real estate salesmen. If I did, I would probably be asked a lot...by them.
