Default Attic insulation

Hi guys,
I inspected a 1954 construction bungalow (Montreal, Canada).
This type of insulation was in the attic, and I have no ides what it is...
I think it is Horsehair insulation, but I always though those type of insulation goes way back..at least before 1900's..

Any ideas..???

Hello Roy,

The Rock wool is not the question..is the brown stuff that I'm not sure what it is...
Sea weed...not sure about that..

I think it is horsehair, but it's weird to have it in 1950's construction..
I actually felt it...and it dis feel like horsehair...lol

My guess would be Silva Wool.

Yep!

Balsam wool and Silva wool are shredded wood products, some treated with borax as a fire-retardant. They're considered natural products and also are not known to contain asbestos.
