InterNACHI has been approved since 2004: http://www.nachi.org/allicensing.htm

They just can't update their website.

"Public perception" is important!

IMHO...... This website needs to be updated to show that NACHI even "exists"!

Good luck with that one. There is only one computer at the state government in Alabama, and no line of government employees waiting to use it. I don't think they know how.

Anyway, we are approved: http://www.nachi.org/allicensing.htm

Nick,
I believe that you have taken this matter into consideration and must think that it is of no importance.

NACHI is "your baby"...not mine. That being said...... If I were the founder of NACHI and I saw that my largest competitor had their name and their test splashed all over this "Legislative Summary" and that even though I had the largest Home Inspectors Association in the Nation...that "Officially" I did not exist...... I would file an Official Complaint to get this matter corrected!
{For crying out loud....Even the tiny little Association from Minnesota is recognized.}

"NACHI being approved" seems to be a well kept secret...... and "Public Perception" is derived from the printed matter on this "Legislative Summary".

I know that you have a lot of things on your plate and this is "small potato's" but..... If I were a NACHI member who just so happened to live and work in Alabama I would be concerned about my competitions apparently SUCCESSFUL "Branding Campaign" and the lack of recognition for NACHI!
{I think that the NACHI Inspectors in Alabama deserve the same recognition and deserve to be on a level playing field with ASHI and NAHI don't you?}

Might I suggest that you have your official NACHI "Legal Department" send them a letter asking them to correct this matter.
  • Maybe the NACHI members in Alabama and or their Chapters could take up a collection to pay for this letter to be sent.
I do not think that it would be that time consuming or expensive.... do you?

Thumbs up Re: To become a Home Inspector in ALABAMA

Outstanding point Frank!!

Nick, go get them. You are known for action, so here is another opportunity to let know our competitors that InterNACHI got to the moon and we are taking over the universe .

Also, I suggest that you assign your inspection team (detectives) to go over all the states of the union (state's inspection license department) to make sure that this situation is not happening in other states .

I strongly agree! InterNACHI needs to officially do more! The perception of the public, as well as real estate sales people and lending institutions is that "if the organization is not listed", the organization, and by extension, its' members, are not legitimate or qualified. Also, any licensing organizations advisory board, or, as in New York State, the Advisory Council, should have membership representative of ALL the major Professional Trade Organizations. New Yorks' Advisory Council does not have an InterNACHI Member - only ASHI Members. (Their own rules call for equal representation) Guess which way their "advice" leans? Yes, I feel strongly that InterNACHI must take a stronger role in lobbying and assuring its' members and view are well represented on advisory boards, in State Laws, State generated printed material, including websites and FAQs the State makes available to the consumer. We (the organization) need an active professional (paid) lobby team charged with monitoring existing and proposed State Licensing Law (including attendance at Advisory Board Meetings) and printed matter.
As President of the New York Capital Region Chapter of InterNACHI, I have attended our advisory council meetings. The monitoring and lobbying needed is beyond what can be expected from volunteers who are engaged full time in the Home Inspection Profession. Nick - PLEASE - more is needed from "Corporate". Lets' get it in place. Once a potential client does not see InterNACHI listed on an "Official State" publication, all our references to "we really are approved" are as functional as a snowball in French Polynesia.

Everything down here in the South is ASHI. I am constantly telling inspectors and agents the benefits from being a InterNACHI member and they just sit there with there mouths open. I have nothing against ASHI members, but everytime I hear from one it is about $$$.

Unless a vendor is involved, Nick is not really known for action.

WHEN IT COMES TO THE LAW / LEGISLATIVE MATTERS...... NACHI inspectors in Alabama are INVISIBLE and UNACKNOWLEDGED!

If NACHI is the BIGGEST {And it is} and the BEST {Not According to ASHI or NAHI} then..... it seems that NACHI is asleep at the wheel and when it comes to .......Legislative RECOGNITION......NACHI has REALLY dropped the ball.
  • I wonder if this has happened in the other Licensed States?
It is very CLEAR that some other associations BRANDING / NAME RECOGNITION CAMPAIGN is miles and miles ahead of NACHI!

Was I ever surprised to find that this situation still exists FIVE YEARS LATER!

Is Alabama really THAT Backward.

http://www.bc.state.al.us/chapter170x24.htm

Good Lord! I'm speechless at the lack of recognition NACHI members receive in Alabama!
