Why should either of you even care. The very best thing you could do is to allow NACHI to go down the tubes (as you both say).

Despite what you may think, and regardless of whether or not there are 9500 paying members or 7500, the fact of the matter is that people pay to join every day. NACHI still outnumbers ASHI.

As to non-existent benefits... take away all the benefits that you claim never showed up (a race car was a dumb-*** idea, and was NEVER a benefit), and no matter how you slice it, NACHI still has more benefits offered than ASHI.

As to NACHI bookeeping... as I recall a fellow named Chad Fabry (nice guy, actually and extremely intelligent) travelled to Nederland Colorado to examine NACHI's books for himself. Chad had the supreme opportunity at that point to bash the hell out of NACHI, but didn't. I guess all was in order... By the way, prior to this point in time (for those who remember), Chad was quite vocal against NACHI.

As to FREA, all I can say is that it's pretty sad when an org gets mad at another for not blasting NACHI in print. By the way, NACHI members get an exclusive discount on E&O insurance through Towers Perrin. We're also working with Marion Allen. Still, and despite this, FREA (you know, those other guys selling E&O) still printed the article despite these programs potentially reducing their bottom line.

So, where's the rub?

You dont like NACHI, and that's fine. It's pretty clear that members on both sides of the fence have no love for each other. For those who claim that NACHI sucks, and is bogus... well, it's funny how many of them are joining.

For those who belong to no org, they are also joining NACHI every day, as ASHI offers no tangible benefits. In fact, the biggest complaint is that ASHI is non-responsive to their questions. ASHI has a much larger staff than NACHI. We have three or four, as compared to how many at ASHI???? We answer the phone. Deanna and Lisa answer member and potential member questions all day long.

Finally, it's also crystal clear that ASHI is so concerned about NACHI that many of their members monitor this BB every day. That's quite telling, and quite flattering. For despite all of NACHI's shortcomings, bumps, trips, and lumps... we are still a mile ahead of the competition. We know it, and more importantly, THEY know it.

I suspect there may be some, as I suspect there are some nachiites, nachi/ ashiites. nahiites and nonorgites as well.
I do know ASHI has an ethics committee that takes things like this seriously, If you know of an ASHI member that is, I'm sure they would like to hear about it and take action as needed.
