Dear Nick
Having a fireplace and chimney inspection course for members is great and would promote such to give home inspectors the basics of fireplace and chimney knowledge in what to look for. However, be sure to include by indication that any inspection of a free-standing solid fuel burning appliance, fireplace, chimney or any related system or component can only be performed by a WETT (Wood Energy Technical Training) certifed inspector, installer or chimney sweeper here in Canada. These inspections, installation of appliance/chimney equipment (systems and componets) are performed by a standard which are the following: 1. CSA Standards: B365-01 "Installation Code for Solid-Fuel-Burning Appliances and Equipment. 2. Wood Energy Technology Transfer Inc: Referance Manual. 3. 2005 National Building Code of Canada (Part 9). 4. In my Province: British Columbia Building Code 2006 (Part 9). Here, in the Province of British Columbia, insurance companies will only except an inspection report from a WET certifed inspector/installer, no exceptions (for building insurnance purposes). If you need any suggestions or recommendations for this course being put together, you can contact WET-BC @ www.wetbc.ca. Dave Brice CMI RHI Owner/Inspector Pacific West Home Inspections |

WETT is a great course. So good, we include it as its own certification in www.InspectorLocator.com

OK, Nick. When's the training going to be released? You've teased us for 7 months now. I'm anxious for the training.
