Wrong, both Associations are competing for members, pure and simple.

Unless NACHI is now free for members to join, and has a Mission Statement similar to Habitat For Humanity (where volunteers do all the work without paying to join or participate), membership numbers and $$$'s are, in fact, at stake.

No, Dom. You are wrong.

I am a home inspector. My competition is the other home inspectors in my area. Not associations.

Buchanan's advice to pay your competition a passing "glance" but to keep your focus on your goals is basic good advice.

ASHI is not my competitor....but it is a source of lies and misleading information that some of my unethical competitors have funded and taken advantage of.

ASHI is losing members, annually, and has been for several years. I would assume that they see the need to "compete" against NACHI for members, but that is neither here nor there.

I never mentioned you're in competition, I said the Associations are in competition. There is a big difference.

What's in this for me? Nothing. In all liklihood, my posture will cost me any future approvals I might have sought within ASHI.

As I have stated, I have never advertised a single course as being ASHI approved. I never felt the need to. My example of Joe Ferry's course being nixed proves my point that he was rejected, not because of course quality or content, but merely because of his affilliation with NACHI. And that's what's at stake and that's what really matters.

And THAT's what is clearly anti-consumer.
If the situation is of no consequence, why is NACHI changing policy?

If we are inspectors "Inspecting the World" we need to show we have world class ethics and tolerance of all HI associations.

We should except all HI association's approved courses as InterNACHI approved credit and allow our members to be co-members of any other HI association.

At end-game InterNACHI will be the World Class Champion HI Association.
