Just my .02, I have seen a couple inspectors that have shown up with passenger cars,my first reaction was always that it was someone who is doing inspections this year or decade and something else next year or decade. I realize that this not a correct assumption, but have thought that if I think that, who else does.

I'm also jealous of the gas mileage, but my long bed truck leaves a lot of room for stuff- ladders, toolboxes of gadgets, shop vac (I can't stand when someone leaves a mess) drill box etc..

I would like the gas mileage of something else than my fullsize, extra cab, long bed, but for now.... oh well.

1999 Chev. Astro with 300,000 miles or my 1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme convertible with the double overhead cam, 24 valve, aluminum head engine.

I don't know. I just seem to like the last century better than this one!!

I don't follow that logic. Your client doesn't know what you drive until you get there. After you leave, hopefully he's talking more about your good service than your wheels.

I guess I wasn't the only one with a similar opinion. Obviously, it's a stereotype. But, probably worth mentioning.

After working my way through two Dodge Caravans and a GMC van, being constantly frustrated by parking issues and walking what must have been a million miles to jobs from where I was forced to park when I couldn't get into hi-rises downtown, I downsized to a Baja in 2003.

I'm on my second one (the first was a standard shift and had less horsepower). As far as I'm concerned, it's the perfect inspector's vehicle. It can go into any parking garage, it slips into really tight parking places, it's got AWD so I can get up into backroad tracks for rural properties (even crossed a stream with it once, plowed through 400 meters of foot-deep snow and then got around a 3ft. drift by driving up onto an adjacent hillside without stopping), it absolutely never losses traction in the snow, it corners like it's on rails and it holds a ton of home inspection gear in the back seat area with the back folded down. It nests my 22ft. and 13ft. ladders nicely in the bed laying on the bed extension.

They stopped producing them in 2007 but you can pick them up used with low mileage on them for about $10K. I plan to keep mine until the wheels fall off or I'm dead and gone.

ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!!

Mike

Mike, it has been a long time, what do we owe the honor of you gracing our presence with your company?

Things have changed little since you left, how goes your war?

Honda Element. Ugly but gets 24 MPG and is 4 wheel drive for winter. Huge inside space. Don't laugh until you've driven one.
