I just saw this add this morning. I checked out the web site. At first it looks interesting. $89.00 for them to do a background and motor vehicle check or you can supply that info yourself. Actually $89.00 not bad. My wife is a lawyer and gets them done all the time. Claims you will get a huge pack of info once you are cleared and will become a sub contractor guaranteed three inspections a week @ $250.00 a pop. It also says you have to pay them $12.00 for each inspection, be available 4-6 hours a day. It goes on to say they are not home inspections and simply a checklist type report that tells them the current shape of the property???? who knows what that means. I would say that $250-$12.00 is pretty good if you actually were able to do them in 1/2 hour and they were in your immediate area and didn't require any special training as they claim but sounds way to good to be true. It sounds that this outfit is placing adds all over. It would be great to find someone that actually has the real skinny on this, i.e. actually jumped through the hoops they require and is actually performing these inspections regularly and is getting paid!

Interestingly, I continue to get direct calls from people,
asking me if this is a legitimate business. and I really don't have anything solid to offer, as I never signed up... I send em back to the web, in particular, this thread, that got their attention in their Google search, to do their research based on all the links provided in the string. People are still paying the $89, and I'm wondering what they're actually getting ??? Wow, this afternoon I get a call from a guy in New Jersey, and he asks me what my connection with Jay Vincent is?
I began what turned into a long conversation by asking "What the hell are you talking about?" I guess this scam is still going on around the country, as he says he's taking a 60 question test, wants to be a "foreclosure inspector" and is being asked to pay $89 for a background check, and how do I feel about this? Sheesh, I continue to get direct calls from people, asking me if this is a legitimate business? I send em back to the web, in particular, this thread, that got their attention in their Google search, to do their research based on all the links provided in the string. As P.T.Barnum once said, there's a sucker born every minute... This is apparently still going strong, and yet no one seems to come forward with "I'm making money" with this? ...I continue to be amazed with how perservering this operation seems to be, charging for background checks, and convincing people that they'll get tons of work... still wondering about this scheme? take a few minutes to READ the RED BADGE letters from the BBB... the amount of complaint letters being sent to them is enormous. i.e. buyer beware. This kind of offer might be appealing to some new Home Inspectors who might be trying to gain experience or find some jobs. Someone should create a topical thread on this company exposing them for what they are.

Ex-Michigan State star Vincent pleads guilty in Internet scam GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Former Michigan State basketball star Jay Vincent pleaded guilty Tuesday to two crimes linked to a $2 million Internet scam. Vincent, 51, pleaded guilty to a fraud charge and a tax charge in federal court in Grand Rapids, just six weeks after he was indicted. Prosecutors said Vincent and an associate, Anthony Portee, defrauded 20,000 people by charging them to become certified home inspectors through a business called Foreclosure Bank Inspection Co. No inspectors were hired and the business had no contracts with banks, according to the government. Vincent will be sentenced Feb. 7. |
