Call your state insurance regulator. There are pools setup for folks who can't otherwise get insurance. It's expensive I hear. I took a job with benefits and now do home inspections on the side (but that HI side job will give me at least a $60k income boost)

Some states will let you have a 1 person group (if you're self employed)which typically means that pre-ex are covered. I would talk to a local broker or agent if I were you. They will know how it works in your area and you don't pay them a commission out of your pocket. The insurance company has to pay them.
