Default hi course lenght?

Hello all,

I have a question that's bugging me:
I would like to take the ahit home inspection course. I've posted in that past regarding online course and the unanimous answer was that a classroom course was strongly suggested so I'm looking at the 7 day classroom course.

What's bugging me is that here ( in quebec) the standard hi course is 8 month in lenght and it's full time. I have obviously not the possibility to attend these course since I already have a job as a police officer. I'm wondering how can a 7 day course compete with an 8 month one. Do you think you really need 8 month to become a home inspector or is 7 day + a lot of home study enough to reach the same goal: become a good home inspector.

thanks for your input

Alexis

p.s. I'm aware that one very important aspect to be a good hi is the experience and no course will give you that. I know that I will have to gain experience before being a really good inspector. My question is more for the long run... will i be able to be as good a home inspector in a few year as someone who has done the full lenght course?

Both courses....or an online course....or mail order course.....do the same thing. That is, each of them prepares you to be an entry level home inspector.

You can expect to know from which end light will shine from your flashlight and at which end of the driveway you might expect to find the house.

That is the truth.

If you have a construction background, then you have a working knowledge of some of the systems within the house and how they work....but even at that, inspecting a home for defects requires much, much more than that.

You will need to acquire hands on experience after your entry level preparation.

Well said James, and you forgot to tell him to join Inachi to further his education on HI and all the help he can expect to get from the members here and the biggest reason is because of this;

Good luck Alexis Marcil, and expect to see you here more often.
