Are HUD inspections generally limited and useless?
I followed one up that had little to say about anything. I found a deteriorating roof with cracked, broken, and missing asphalt shingles; rusted through bathroom sink; leaking PRV near main water valve; the dishwasher fill solenoid was seized; the lights and receptacles in 1/3 of the basement were not connected to any power; the HUD inspection identified the service capacity as 100 amp when the conductor size, panel capacity, and main breaker were all 125 amp; and not a word about the polybutylene plumbing that was leaking. They did accurately report that there was no washer and dryer and that there were missing ceiling tiles in the basement. |

A HUD inspection is really more of an appraisal.
