Same here I wasn't told what the rules are , As the chosen ones LOL I always felt i was The Chosen One before i became a moderator or joined NACHI ask my wife . I have no self Interest in Politics or Religion . I think all sides have something worth to say But i disagree when it becomes a personal attack on a individual Ethier side Liberial or conservative . I believe there is lots to learn here and all members give great information Some personal Views do get out of hand but not so bad . I am sure when People get more things going that will calm some of the The things that get people going . Over all Message boards are all lot worst than this one.
Debates is what keeps the world going around and keeps people thinking .
Only problem Some people get personal It is all fun and games till someone loses a eye
If someone has a problem with me being a moderator or a post i have put on Please tell me I wont be ofeneded just want people be upfront and give a reason .

I have a problem with you...or anyone....deciding for me what is fit for me to read. That is a privilege I reserve for myself, only.

Knowing that there are moderators....who may never touch a single post....still reduces this message board to nothing more than what you and the other moderators allow to be posted. I am not interested in reading only what YOU find to be non-objectionable.

This message board will die if it remains censored.

All moderators should resign and simply leave it to Nick who, up to this point, has been the sole moderator.

good point and honest As of yet i have never censored anything because i have not seen anything about the rules.
till then i will not be doing anything , I did however volunteer and i will not resign till i see How it is going to be done.
It is is only to follow the rules of The MB that is posted when you join i do not think it will be anywhere near the censorship you are worried about. If it becomes a thing where people delete a honest Opinion (not a personal attack ) i will resign. I too do not believe in censorship but i do believe in respect other peoples opinion not name calling That was for grade school.

So you wouldn't have a problem with Nick deciding what is fit for you to read?

Under the current format, your suggestion that Nick remain the sole moderator would require him to be awake and logged in 24/7/365 to approve posts by non-members.

I know Nick can do a lot of things, but that, I'm afraid, would be too much even for him.

However, I agree that moderation solves nothing.

I was not privy to any behiund the scenes communications. I was unaware of who the 15 moderators were until someone sent me an e-mail AFTER an announcement was made.

Several members of ESOP were named as moderators, which I am not pleased with. But, this is NACHI. As such, I made some rules for ESOP members regarding moderation.

Dont lump me in. I wasnt the one who decided any of this.
Believe me Joe--I am not lumping you into anything, I have the utmost respect for you----!!

After seeing the rapidity in his decisions to delete entire threads and multiple posts almost as quickly as they were posted in recent weeks...are you really that naive to think that this message board has not been moderated until now?

Do you know that, when Raymond Wand was banned, someone (not the ESOP Committee) made the decision to delete every one of his 10,000 plus posts made during the entire time he had been a member along with every single thread he ever started?

This board has been moderated by Nick since its inception as it will continue to be.

Agreed. How insane is it to develop a "moderator" system, that the moderators don't even know how it works????? Just another sales pitch about something that Nick, for YEARS, said would never happen..."not on his watch"....

Richard, no, you are not one of the "chosen few" I was referring to!!! You, like me, prefer to speak what you believe, not necessarily what people want to hear!
I just saw in another post where a moderator said he had to "approve" a post of a non-member before he could reply to him...has this process been explained to you? It sure hasn't been to me.

Also not explained to me...I figured it out on my own.

Maybe you should post an informational/educational post to let the other moderators know what to do? OR....maybe it should have been explained in the first place, so the "moderators" wouldn't have to "figure it out for themselves"....

I didn't read all 5 pages but under this new system, I do NOT have admin function access to this message board any longer, I can NOT delete anyone's posts (even non-members') and I am NOT a moderator. If anyone tells you that I can moderate the message board, they would by lying. Confirmation of this can be acquired from Chris Morrell over at IT Dept.

I'm pretty sure that moderators can NOT delete members' posts, they can only moderate non-members.

I don't know who Chris chose to be moderators (I haven't been given the list) but no staffer(other than Chris) is a moderator.

112 inspectors joined InterNACHI in the last 15 days: http://www.nachi.org/memberstats.htm

Hope that helps.

P.S. Sounds like it is still a very open-to-all, unmoderated (for the most part) message board.

YUP.... that PROVES that "Moderation" of non members post "Have Killed the NACHI message board!"

Hope that helps.

Nick,
In the past few days the message board has seen a DRAMATIC decrease in the garbage posted by the NACHI bashers!

Yet in spite of this.... This message board has been just as lively as ever!

Although I and many others had volunteered I was never notified of your / NACHI’s / Chris’s decision.
I was pleasantly surprised to see my name on the “Moderators” list.

That being said …. I would like to speak to Chris about the “Technical Aspects” of being a Moderator. It seems that I and others ….. cannot find where ANY post are “put aside” to be voted on.

Please have him either call me or…. E-Mail “INSTRUCTIONS” to ALL of the Moderators.

Thanks….
