I think they only got an inch or two, I hope that's all, the first building we have to side has about 60 square of siding and 1200 feet of fascia and soffit.

I'll start posting pictures on his thread when we get going.

We got about 10 inches here and it's still coming down, Oh well, I know what you mean about it getting harder every year, hows that saying go.......

" Sucks getting old!!!!!"
I think Mae West or some other doll from the same period said it this way:
"growing old ain't for sissies!!"

A few more pictures on the Bookstore update.

Attachment 17218The elevator brains, it seems like they are getting smaller every year.

Attachment 17219 We have a running platform. Now the Frames will get installed.

Attachment 17220 These are the stop buffers typical of an elevator in a pit. This would prevent a damageing stop on the car should it override.

Attachment 17221 These are the shoe glides on the rail below the platform. Amazing how smoth it runs.

Attachment 17222 Joint compound being done on the first and second floor

And the work goes on;

More pics on the elevator that is now complete.

Attachment 17399 Wiring the inside of the elevator door

Attachment 17400 Part of the door controls inside the shaft.

Attachment 17401 This is the part that operates the car from the top in the shaft and opens and closes the doors.

Attachment 17402 Here you see it installed and in the background you can see the access hatch from the top of the car and unlike the movies, it can not be open from the inside of the cab. It has a lock on it only accessible by the mechanics and when the door is open the plug is unhooked and the car is out of commission.

Attachment 17403 On this one you can see some of the sophisticated door mechanisms.

Nice, Marcel. I enjoy the insight, into areas that aren't usually seen, of your posts.

Thanks Larry and glad some are interested in the Commercial World.

Here are a few more from this week.

I picked up an error on the drywaller that I had explained to him that needed to line up and he missed it by 5/8", he will take it apart Monday and make it right.
Sorry but the pictures are not in order.

Attachment 17424 Orientation view from a distance.

Attachment 17425 This is the elevation of the closet and the soffitt above.

Attachment 17426 View of the misalignment.

Ah well, it will get fixed.

Hi Marcel, here are some pictures of the siding job we're doing for Alan.

This is the first of 14 multi-family condo buildings and is a six unit building. This has been very difficult due to the weather mostly but also you'll notice in some of the pictures we started the siding up about four feet, that is because they had trouble securing a mason to do the brick work, we managed to establish a control line around the building and I'm only 1/4" off in 100 feet, not bad, I do have a great lead carpenter and between him and myself we've done a lot of commercial siding.

Here are some more, the lift was expensive but saved us money in labor and helps with OSHA compliance.

Nice pictures Peter.
Looks like your gaining though.

That middle picture with the snow and the lift is pretty much what it is going to look like over here in about an hour. Started coming down and 12" is predicted.

I am still fighting the weather outside myself to try and finish my exterior work.

Will post more pictures later.

Stay warm today.
Good luck on your Flir thingy. ha. ha.

Marcel, I live near central NH on the Maine border and the weather man says we are getting 1 1/2 - 2 inches an hour and we are predicted to get the same.

Should be done on that build in about 5 days, if it stops snowing, another storm coming in for Friday!!!

Marcel, This is looking out my slider into my back yard, coming down to beat the band.

That's OK, I have the wood stove going, plenty of food and beer in the fridge, trucks in 4X4 and the plow is on. So I'm here working on my inspection business/relaxing, I just hope we don't loose power because my generator is on the job site!!!!!

And maybe if it let's up enough I'll take that sled for a ride.

A few more pictures for you all.

Attachment 17701 Installing the exterior alluminum entrance frames.

Attachment 17702
Motorized automatic door opener to meet ADA requirements.

Attachment 17703 Doors and closures installed and only one door will be operated with the ADA push paddles.

Attachment 17704 Thought I would show what the standard mounting height is for Commercial hardware includeing panic devices. This has been a controversial subject.
Most all Commercial Projects or buildings of this nature are at this height.
Metal door frames and alluminum entrances all revolve around this measurement unless specifically specified different.

Smaller Commercial projects will tend to mix with residential hardware and you might find anything from 36" to 44". Who knows. ha. ha.

Thought I would show a few progress photo's.Attachment 17706Well, some glass showing up, but not all of it as you can see.

Attachment 17707 It seems to take about 5 weeks to get after it is measured.

Attachment 17708

Attachment 17709 The basement floor is pretty well all taped and sanded and by the end of next week, the second floor should be ready for the painters the following week.
The painters I am using are from Fort Kent Maine near the border and want the whole building ready when they come down. They come down for ten days straight and will have the walls all ready for the ceiling people to come in and hang the suspended grid and open up work for the sheet metal and electrical contractors to finsish their work.

Attachment 17710

Attachment 17716 This is when I went to my home town on the Canadian Border just before New Years. It is still open and surviving quite well from what I here and now belongs to the grandson of the original owner.
Look at the sign, Oldest in the Nation. Cool.

Attachment 17717 A Southern look at the retail space of the Book store on the Main level.

Attachment 17718 The centralize center stairwell will allow students to two levels of shopping for books and clothing for a new year.

Attachment 17719 Elevator lobby at the main level.

Attachment 17720 A picture shot where it will connect to the renovation and addittion to the Pulver Pavilion I completed last Year.
