There is a mold dog in North San Diego County, too. I think it's in Oceanside. I have not heard about re-certification. I didn't even know they had to be certified. Maybe Nick has a hand in this?

We have a guy in our area, working under a company called Mold Pro. I have seen the dog work and it is impressive. BUT, is the dog a licensed and qualified mycologist. Not really.

More importantly, this certification - are they just certified, or do they have to do a number of jobs as a "K9 candidate" first?
Can the pooch take an online exam, or do they have to be proctored???

There was a mold dog at my vet's office this past Monday. he was being treated for a respiratory infection. The handler told me his dogs get lung infections at least once a year.

Poor dogs.

He stated that they are not pets, they are tools.

I don't see why they couldn't take an exam, Dan Harris claims to have a cat that can.

I wonder if the human society has a stance on mold dogs.

They are in general friendly creatures and not tools like a hammer.

I wonder if intentionally exposing dogs to molds falls under the 'abuse' guideline.

He made the 'tools' statement when I asked if he had any other pets. I guess if we are classifying pets as tools, I get to sleep with my tools every night!

There are some Molds out there that kill and make people sick.

That's as bad as sticking your dogs nose right next to the exhaust of your car.

There should be a fine line drawn somewhere.

I think that guy is a little confused on who the real tool is.
