John, I have one I used when first starting out to help me remember the various things I needed to be looking for. It follows the TREC 7A-0 report format like it would need to here. It was used during the inspection to remind me of things but it was not the cleaned-up, dressed-up report that was delivered to the client. Tell me a little about yourself, why you want it, etc and I'll see if I can e-mail it to you.

As a licensed TREC inspector he can't use those in Texas.

There is a lot of good leaning there for a new person, but he also needs to lay that data into the TREC 7A-0 form and TREC SOP.

John, I finally found a version of the checklist form that you can use when inspecting a home here. It is not intended to be used to give to a client as the official report, it's designed to jog your memory to look at various items during the inspection. I'll still see if I can find a version you can modify on your own, like a Word document. See if this is what your are looking for:

Mike - I just dug my same original out of my archives as well. Was very good for the early inspections and a memory jog.

BTW - Are you using Whisper PI or have you gone over to Whisper Reporter?

I've was part of the BETA team for Reporter and really like it a lot.

The original version of that was developed at San Antonio College where I took my training a few years ago. It did come in handy for the 1st few inspections I did.

Yes, I too use Whisper and also was part of the Beta testing that Larry and Eric did for Reporter. That had it's perks didn't it? Like I've mentioned to a few folks, Reporter is not for the faint of heart but if you want extensive control over the form and format of your reports then it's probably hard to beat. Eric, out in Phoenix (Scottsdale, Tempe?) is just a real pleasure to work with too.

Wrong again Nick. It's not a ding dong form; its a dong ding form as mandated by TREC Rule 535.113 (a) (1) (3) (4) (B) (3) (2) (1) Paragraph 3 sentence 4. Failure to use the correct promulgated name is negligence and incompetence.

When I started out, I didn't do ride alongs or have a mentor, I had the SOP embedded in my reports at their appropriate fields. If your using a computer you can back them out before you send off the completed doc.

This way while I was inspecting I'd be sure to cover all of the items in the SOP, then if I wanted to produce or inspect beyond I at least knew I had the bases covered. After 25-50 reports I no longer required the reminders.

Yes both Eric & Larry are great. I'm always trading e-mails with Eric when things come up or thoughts about new/different tweaks. I've had several "betas" this year that he wanted some debugging on before he posted the update. And the perks are very good as well.

I think Eric was looking to possibly relo from Scottsdale to Tucson ... dunno if that is still in the mill ... maybe after the first of the year if I recall correctly.

All of that hard work has muddled his brain I guess. Nothing against Tucson, my son went to UA, but from Scottsdale to Tucson??? OK, Timpani...let me have it .
