Ahh.. Ray, If you recall I was a member, bitched about nachi's non verified "certification" requirements , found guilty by the powers to be, and got banned for speaking out..
If you recall, there were many others over the years, including one from Fla, that Nick stated on this public BB.... "he should be killed"

Interesting and do you say any thing about the Ashi Students who are out doing inspections before they have passed the ASHI exam.

Interesting do you have any thoughts of any who are full fledged ASHI members who have not taken ANY ASHI exam.
Strange way you have of seeing things .

I bet when you where in a parade at school your mother was real proud of you and said look there's my Danny and he is the only one in step.

ASHI is not marketing the "Students" to the public as "certified" inspectors untill they pass their final exam.

For those inspectors...20 plus years ogo, Prior to internet marketing, The ime in the Business, time remaining in business, far more exceeds any thing they can learn from an exam.

Nope.... The only parade I particiapted in was keeping the runaway cows, that jumped the fence, in line, back to the barn..

Trust me , I have been around long enough...with over 2,000 inspections, and 100s of hours of CE provided by veterns in our profession, to realize, I am far from being an inspector that even comes close to being qualified to market myself to the public as a CMI.

What happened to the CMI that was going to have qualified education and verified requirements by our peers that exceeded any existing HI certifications present, prior to an inspector earning the title CMI???

I'm from the old school of believing the 1st thing any business person needs to do is , never market your self as something you are not.

When did it change that a person does not need to be honest, and provide earned nationally recognized qualifications/ certifications when marketing to our customers

I agree with you. I have several pet peeves of who joined CMI. Some are my friends. But still.....
Dan, you are one of the few out there who can honestly call yourself a CMI. So do it and start adding some credibility to the the designation.

I know many ASHI members and lots of them post here and seldom if ever post at ASHI .
I guess they just like you can see how great NACHI and how it helps all even those who are on the out side looking in.
As we all Know ASHI does not allow others to see inside there association like NACHI does .
So sad, too bad for you, that a big special in your life is comming to see how NACHI is doing.

Why does everyone you disagree with "spend so much time here"?

Do you have an actual record of how much time each person spends here? Maybe we should compare? I bet we could.

Why is everyone who disagrees with you jealous?

Dan was a member. He's been offered a CMI by Nick. Now how does that add up to being jealous? How can he be jealous when he can have the same thing as you?

I inspected a 1200 ft condo this afternoon and, as we were completing the pre-inspection agreement, I asked him how he found me.

He told me he got me from finadaninspector.us and then he started to talk...and I was convinced I was being set up.

He relocated to St. Louis from Canada and was a little ticked off at how he had to re-establish a credit rating. He said none of his Canadian credit (even though they use Equifax, etc) was relevant with US lenders. So, he said he had a lot of time to investigate a lot of things while he spent the necessary time on the new job to establish himself while he looked for various places to live.

"The first thing I noticed around here was how all of the realtors (his word, not mine) want to refer ASHI inspectors. This made me real suspicious, so I got on line and checked them out."

He had my undivided attention.

"When I did, I found them talking quite highly about themselves and their qualifications...but aside from having 250 inspections, there was not too much else there. Especially after I compared them to NACHI."

We were in the garage and I looked very closely at the garage motion sensors to see if they were actually cameras. I knew I was being filmed for the evening news.

"When I read the long list of requirements to be a NACHI member and the high emphasis on continuing education...it made sense to me why a realtor would want to steer me in another direction."

I nodded while he talked. When he finished, I threw in a few things in ASHI's "defense"....noting that many ASHI members are also NACHI members and just because they belong to ASHI, which has lower requirements to join, many are still good inspectors.

From there, I went to work and finished the job.

I think it is important to note that --- no matter what we think or say, the final word comes from those who hire us. It is their impressions that matter and this unprompted flurry of praise for NACHI came as a result of independent study.

So...say whatever you want to, dan...10,000 NACHI inspectors have 10,000 clients choosing them over ASHI for every inspection they do. You are only a legend in your own mind.

And you know zip about Raymonds qualifications .
And your qualifications are just slight above Zip.
I wonder where you think you have the knowledge to judge those who have been doing inspections since the last century.

"I'm leaving...I'm leaving...."
You have said this before but like a bad smell you just keep comming back.
We can only hope some day you keep your word.

Welcome back busshy... I was wondering where you have been for the past few days..

I cannot iminage what it would be like to have to think in the back of my mind, that I'm being set up when performing an inspection ..

And your reply would be when the customer asked you, do you have any documenation of completing CE renewal requirements and documenation from a third party stating is was verified that you took the nachi exam??

No legend in my mind.. From my experience of repeat customers and referrals I may be a legend to a couple thousand customers minds ,
the same customers that a nachi member did not get..

Oh, come on. It happens in Arizona quite regularly.

As I recall the last television newsteam to "expose" Arizona home inspectors, it was last summer. A house was preinsptected by some weenie from your licensing board to show that being licensed did not necessarily mean the inspector was competent.

The video has been removed from the news site, but I think the transcript is still there. We referred to that quite often to illustrate how licensed inspectors in Arizona have to feed each other to the media to try to market themselves. It was good proof that licensing solves nothing.

You should watch for those cameras, dan.

.. No problem here....I have always been upfront and honest to my customers, and only advertized or stated my verified qualificiations and experience, as a result I have never had any reason to worry or look behind my back to see if a camera was present or not..
