Unless you are an ITA grad and using ITA forms (an existing program we did not dislodge) the only way to get the Pay Per Inspection insurance preferred status is to be a NACHI member. See the important note in the link I posted: http://www.pay-per-inspection.com

So what does "preferred status" get you that being a member of another assoc. or graduate of another training school, not get you?

Pricing. However nothing over being a graduate of ITA. The pre-existng deal for ITA graduates is one we did not dislodge or seek to dislodge since ITA is now a sister training school for NACHI. If you don't want to join NACHI, you have to go to school (ITA).

Jason1, just re-join NACHI and all will be well. You perhaps are beginning to see that it is worth far more than the annual membership fees we gladly pay.

I attended the 3 day commercial training in Denver which was a fantastic class with a bunch of great guys(56) and taught by a wonderful teacher(Mike Nelson of ITA/Kaplan), all NACHI members (of course that may have been because it was only available to NACHI members)

You should probably decide soon before the 10,000 cap is reached. tick, tick ,tick, tick

I don't see anything yet that I could not get as an independant. All I see is a lot of hype and no substance.

The best thing about an org like this is the people, that is what makes most orgs. great.

So where is the discount Nick?

My understanding is that the Pay Per Inspection preferred status is only available to those inspectors who are certain things (ITA graduates, NACHI members, etc). Their site (note, it is their site... not NACHI's) indicates similarly. Prior to this NACHI members who were not ITA graduates did not have access to any Pay Per Inspection insurance (Allen or not). Now that has changed... for NACHI members anyway.

It is available to a member of any org. and most training schools.

I think being a "preferred member" only gets your NACHI name on that page.

Again, it is available to everyone (certain states), regardless if you are a member of NACHI or not, and at the same price. That is direct from Allen Insurance.

I was at the ITA Vegas Expo recently as a vendor where Allen's Pay Per Inspection was rolled out and it was made clear to us then that it was NOT available to everyone. It was only available to ITA graduates... till now.

Their site says that inspectors who are not members of an association CANNOT participate in the Pay Per Inspection program at all. So association membership is a requirement. I don't know what NACHI's exclusive preferred status means above and beyond that.

I do not normally get involved - but since I created the
program its time to step in.

The program was started initially with ITA.
The ITA program combines training, reports, agreements
and insurance all in one package.

Recently I met with with Nick to discuss a new version
of the program. (At his request)

This new version of the program allows for other training
providers, reporting systems etc.

The program is designed to help new home inspectors
get started in the business. In the spirit in which the
program was created Nick offered to reduce the membership
fee for the first year. Helping inspectors is what NACHI
is all about. Yes, other associations may follow suit but
look at who started it.

We're meeting again this weekend, and should get things sorted out. I'll give my version of how this came about and why.
