Default Recall on GE Dwashers

Sent to me by a realtor friend.

Today (May 16, 2007), GE announced a recall of 2.5 million dishwashers manufactured between September 1997 to December 2001 due to a fire hazard. Several brand names are included (GE, GE Profile, GE Monogram, Hotpoint and Eterns).

GE is offering either $150 or $300 rebates on the purchase of a new dishwasher: http://www.geappliances.com/products/recall/dw07/

If your dishwasher is on the list and you were going to be needing a dishwasher soon anyway, consider this an opportunity. Several stores are offering promotions that can be used in conjuction with your appliance purchase.

Home Depot is currently offering 0% financing on purchases of $299 or more right now for purchases made on The Home Depot Consumer Credit Card and are also offering a mail-in rebate for free delivery and haul-away for appliances $299 and up.
Go to www.homedepot.com and click on "Promotions" at the top of the page.

Lowe's is currently offering the following:
-Free delivery (in the form of a mail-in rebate) on GE appliances $397 and up through 7/29/07
-Free Basic installation (mail-in rebate) on GE Premium Dishwashers $597 and up through 5/28/07
-$500 Rebate on a GE Profile Package (multiple GE appliances) through 7/8/2007

Go to http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=categorySelect&category=Appliances&Ne=5 000&N=0 for more information.

Lowe's is also offering 0% financing for 6 months. on any major appliance purchase of $299 or more on your Lowe's Consumer Credit Card.
Go to http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=pg&p=CustServ/LowesCreditsplash.html for more information

Keep in mind, new Energy Star appliances meet 2007 EPA and Department of Energy standards and can save you energy costs.
