Default shut off tags?

Do you print your own? I was thinking about ordering stickers to place on business cards. i could just punch a hole in the card and hang it on the valve. what do others do?

You are supposed to identify their locations in your report so that the client knows where they are located. If you want to include them in a report binder, then that is all fine well and good. I highly doubt that the client will later go back after they buy the house and put them in place though.

I only hang them in vacant homes but I'm not too consistent with that. I usually place them in the binder like Scott suggested. I do run into quite a few home where inspectors, from previous inspections, have already tagged the valves. (although the tags are nice, I propbably will not order more.)

I use tags I bought through AHIT. The ones for such things as furnace and hot water heater shut-offs have places to write the unit make and model numbers. They come in handy if the owner needs the info in a hurry to, say, call a plummer. My clients have always appreciated them. If I find an appliance I don't have a specific tag for, I hand write the info on a blank one. And I always stamp by name and telephone number on them.

I regularly tag the major stuff. Shutoff valves like water, gas and the valves for the sillcock and water heater. Clients love them and I've gotten inspection work from sellers who were impressed with them.

I'm sure the liability wonks will howl but my lawyer sees no issue as long as I label the right valves. So don't guess.
