Peter, if this is one of your picture, the first two rafters to your upper right, one seems to indicate a scab on the rafter and the first one appears to change color in the wood indicating something changed.

I am not trying to find fault, curious after noticing. Incandescent bulb? Yea I know, they all use that right?

Noooooooo I googled the pic. I didnt want to wade through all my pics to find a good example of a plateform around a attic HVAC system. Good catch though my firend.

Wow, if only 1% of the attic systems looked like that...!

I'd almost sleep up there.

Two or three times a year? Try every 30 days (recommended by most manufacturers.

Oh yes, there was plenty of room for repair and such. He was tugging on the filter and lost his balance. He was just a "dum mass".

Furnace filters are not to filter the air in the house with regards to air quality issues. Furnace filters are to protect the heat exchanger (and A/C coil) from excessive dust buildup.

If there are air quaility issues, there are special units that can be added to the furnace.

HEPPA, filtrete and the so called "allergy" filters (a) don't really work with regards to air quality and (b) usually restrict the return air flow too much.

Furnace filters should be replaced every 30 days. In the spring or fall, when the furnace blower is not operating to any great amount, ths can be relaxed somewhat, but 30 days is the habit that you want your client to get into.

No, but James BushTart would agree that you don't need a license to operate the toaster.

I seem to remember being advised to change the filter every 3 to 4 months depending on enviroment, would be more efficient. I think the man who fell thru, was probably trying to say, you should have changed the filter while you were inspecting it, since you took the filters up there in the first place. He was trying to save face, he already bruised his fanny, why bruise ego too. JMO

That looks like a display in a HVAC manufacturers lobby, it's spotless, If I ever found one that clean, I might pay them for letting me inspect it!
