Gerry,

As Rowan's appointee to his "peer review" thingy, where you and Paul share the duties as "watchdogs" for NACHI....what is your opinion of the brochure that defines a CMI as one who has passed "the FABI test or NHIE" and his less than flattering description of NACHI? Does this meet with your approval?

James, I shouldn't have included my CMI post in the "Under Attack," thread, but think it best if you take your question to Gerry to the CMI thread where we can all follow the debate. Thanks, and no offense intended.

John, I have seen nothing that changes your situation at this time.

That is an oxymoron. You are not consistent with your
position. As our stated "NACHI Guardian" will you demand
justice and call for a meeting right now?... or will you
continue to call for silence while the bull dozer keeps
plowing the house down?

READ MY LIPS, I agreed with you over your comment in relation to this.

BTW so did Michael.

You can't have it both ways and appear reputable.

What is it you don't understand about me agreeing with you???

Speaking out of both sides of your mouth never
sounds clear. Sorry if that offends you, but your
actions are louder than your words.

I give in, John seriously, my possition has remained consistent and will do so.
Thank you for the spin

Gerry

Please tell Michael on the forum to call for a meeting
with the current CMI board at once. This will cause
everyone to see you as a truly concerned person.

I feel that you are torn by this situation and I
understand your position... but for NACHI members
and CMI members... could you please call for
a meeting. That's all I ask. Why is that too hard
to do?

The worst that can happen is Michael will say no.
If Michael punishes you for asking for a meeting,
then he is not the kind of guy I would want to
work with anyway. You have nothing to loose.

Please do it for all of us, my friend.

I speak strongly sometimes... but only when I
feel that people are about to suffer damage.
I cannot remain silent. I am sorry.

John, I have no intention of telling Michael to do what he has stated he is doing, I hope that meeting(s) can take place soon, but I for one am planning to take some personal time off over the Christmas Holidays.

I am in no way torn, other than chasing my own *** around this board all evening, my possition again has been consistent.

John, no one is likely to be punishing anyone, last time I checked we were all doing some discovery about CMI. and in particuar the aspirations of its members.

John, I gave everybody (and you personally) a commitment, Michael has asked for nothing less or dictated how I act or what I think, as I said in another post, anyone who thinks I march to anything other than my own drum, obviously don't know me.

Regards

Gerry

However, I was left without choice when my insurance company insisted that I join one. Shortly thereafter, I joined NAHI on the recommendation of a fellow inspector, and in the interests of fellowship I began sending them articles about the threat that litigation poses to the inspection industry, which I documented with precision. They published one, and then steadfastly declined to publish any more, even though CREIA and other organizations were publishing them quite regularly. Perplexed, I told them that I didn’t want to waste their time and mine by submitting articles that were apparently being ignored. They replied, and informed me in so many words, that the level of diction in my articles was too high for their membership. As an English professor, I didn’t need to be informed about the level of diction from a NAHI staff member, and I certainly didn’t need to take more than a cursory glance at their magazine to realize how absurd their response was. In fact, I understood it to mean that they either didn’t have a very high regard for the group intelligence of their membership or didn’t want to publish anything that was critical of attorneys or the legal profession. Almost immediately, I resigned my membership in NAHI and joined NACHI, but I have never said anything negative about NAHI, or any other organization for that matter, nor would I ever. I have respected inspector/friends in several organizations.

Since then, the fellowship of NACHI has welcomed me with open arms, all of my articles have been published, and I haven’t had a second thought about NAHI until my business partner in Porter Valley Software, Lorne Steiner, received a letter from the president of NAHI canceling Porter Valley Software’s affiliate membership and canceling its vendor invitation to their upcoming conference, on the grounds that he is a director at large of NACHI, and I was recently appointed as its vice-president. You don’t have to think about this for too long to see that there is no logical explanation for such censure. Many vendors serve honorably on the boards of other organizations. As a building inspector, I’ve always tried to do what is best for inspectors, and it does concern me that Porter Valley Software’s trade practices should be impugned for whatever grievance (real or imagined) NAHI has with NACHI.

Many NAHI members visit the NACHI website, if only because it is vastly superior to others. Regardless, if you’re a NAHI member, I ask you to consider what is right and what is wrong, and if you believe in truth and justice to make your voice heard. I have no doubt that you are able to read these words without difficulty, which is more credit than NAHI officially gave you, and for that reason you might want to spend more time on the NACHI message board, and if you’d like to read what NAHI didn’t apparently want you to read, it’s contained in my book Inspect and Protect, in which I proudly acknowledge NACHI’s contribution. There is nothing more disarming than the plain truth.

.................

Here Keith, this might get you back on track...........

I don't remember anyone contacting the current CMI
board or it's members. Other than this BB, Michael
has deliberately by-passed the CMI board and members.
Your comments are sweet, but not true.

Thank you Gerry, for such a non-decisive position.

Just keep marching in the same consistent circle
and you can always claim to be consistent.

Keith, Lorne, I have met you both and respect you both.

When "exclusive" orgs of such (vast?) membership bar you, you should be honored!

Meanwhile, welcome home!
