For the past couple of years I have been working with several insurance executives in developing a program that would reward Home Inspectors that show a diligence in their education and time in business.
Well it is now available and below are some basic FAQ's... Here are some basic FAQ's: The Basics: The insurance premium would be $1,000 for $100/$300 with a $2,500 deductible and claims made. Higher limits are available. Retroactive coverage: Reported to be included without having to purchase an extended tail. This is included on previous policy that has not lapsed at the time of new coverage. Current policy would need to be reviewed. Qualifications for lowered costs: The home inspector to qualify for the insurance must be in business three years, have 80 hours of education, be a member of one of a national organization(Nachi,Ashi, etc) or a state organization, have continuing education of 16 hours each year, use some type of soft ware with a check list in the field which they can create themselves or purchase, and apply sop's and code of ethics from a national organization or state organization. All will need to be verifiable. If this sounds like something that would peek you interest, email me. By the way - for those that need basic liability, how does $250.00 per year sound. Sadly, this is U.S. only. Sorry Canada, I'm working on it. It is tough up there. John b. |

Sounds like a fantastic insurance plan.
I'm highly qualified for every area except reporting procedures. So it all comes down to this....Because I designed my very own comprehensive 17 page 3-part form for my home inspection clients (and will not use anything but) I'm now disqualified from this plan. Sounds (to me) like there should be an amendment to these qualifications. Waddaya say John? |

To the best of my knowledge, coverage is also available at a very competitive costs to new or less than qualified individuals. It can't hurt to get a quote. I've heard of costs centering around $1,700.00 and up.
In addition, special considerations are made for multiple inspector firms. I'll check into this site later on today. John b. |
