They are if they have a finger indent (channel or groove) on both sides, I think.

Good answers.

A person's safety may depend upon our ability to inspect a stairway.

The purpose of the video is to go over a stairway in detail so that when we're on an inspection we can recognize and document a defect quickly.

I recommend printing out the stairway checklist and reading it while the video plays. There are details in the checklist that Paige does not go over.

Stairway narratives are available too.

Trying to show profile only Larry, this type of rail does not return to the wall due to the long angle cut, therefore a modified larger piece would have to be used and would not look right, that is why it is not likely recommended, but some Architects still use it.
