I understand Ben Gromiko offers a plan to provide 100 day warranty's for home inspection clients. Where can I get the info on the NACHI site?

I use a similar one, and it works very well. My customer complaint ratio went down dramatically.

If you happen to be a HomeGauge user, you can add a 90 day AHW to your report with one click. http://www.homegauge.com/inspector/s...HW-add-on.html

I use it for almost every inspection (some restrictions apply). Very happy with it and the customers love it -

Greg or anyone else,
What do you charge your clients for the Mountain Warranty?

I used AHW when I was inspecting in Pennsylvania. Great company. Had a few claims, they handled them great. AHW has been around for a long time with a very good history. Awesome marketing tool.

I used to charge $369 for a residential home inspection. Then, I incorporated AHW 90-day coverage by raising my prices to $396. No one knew the difference or blinked and eye. Just switched the 6 and 9.

Try to raise your fees. Home inspectors have been poorly paid for decades. We're still charging the same that we used to charge 20 years ago.

This same old argument about raising your prices.

I have a friend who is a fellow inspector in NJ. He and I started out around the same time last year. We both started out with the same pricing. Both of us decided on our pricing based on the mid range price for our area. $350.00 for a SFH up to 3000sf. I have three websites covering the south Jersey area, he has two. There is a major difference is site content, with mine being far superior even by his admission.

I am sitting on my *** with one inspection a week, while he is booked with one a day for the next two weeks. He either dropped his price, or is writing soft reports, or both. I know he markets to agents so maybe his reports are soft.

My point here is, I cannot see how raising your price in this market is beneficial. I do not write soft reports, nor would I condone the practice of writing soft reports. The only explanation is that he is dropping his prices.

If someone could tell me the equation of how raising your prices, without the whole "self worth" BS attached to it, I am all ears. If not, then it is just the same stuff we see on all the other threads.

Why do people see a person who gets more inspections as a "soft" inspector? Ever think he is better? Better at inspecting, better at report writing, better at dealing with people, better at conveying the report...

I see it all the time....Well he is super busy...he must be kissing the Realtors butt....Maybe he is just better. Instead of making excuses, find out what people want and give it to them...

I sincerely hope that you are more attentive to your inspections, than message board posts. I stated that I thought that the reason he was getting the work is he dropped his price!

Don't forget that I know this guy. We went through school together, and mentored together. The majority of his work is agent referrals...hmmm.

I still blame his pricing over his potential butt kissing.

Now that another round of quality motivational speaking is done...maybe we can get to the subject of pricing.
