It covers a 36 month tail end, in case you want to retire, or move on. We renewed with Wally at International Placement Services Inc and he saved us over $850. He is very thorough and the application is lengthy but I'm willing to answer all of the questions to save $$$$. My wife has been talking with Wally, she works for the reinsurance business and is very pleased with the policy. Unlike the Elite MGA who hasn't called her back or sent a renewal for coverage after filling out the information and speaking with Pam. Many thanks to John Bowman for his involvement.

Here's the laterst regarding the IPS E&O offering:
Quote:
I’ve had verbal and e-mail communications with several of you and I just wanted to share this latest information. With Wally Glaser’s help and approval he put me in contact with the Non-Medical Professional Liability department manager at James River Insurance. The manager, who has 35 years insurance industry experience, and I had a very cordial, informative telephone conversation on Tuesday afternoon and here are the highlights of that conversation:

·James River has done their due diligence regarding their entry into the HI E&O field. They are confident that if the applicants meet the stringent requirements then they will be successful in the long run. Choosing the more educated, experienced, qualified inspectors will result in fewer claims is the theory and that would seem to make sense.
·James River Insurance ‘combined ratio’ is right at 80%. That translates into a 20% GPM which by anyone’s standards is very good. Again, AM Best rates them A-.
·He has appointed a 13 year’s experience underwriter to the HI segment. She will review the applications that come through Wally and determine if they meet James River standards. I’m sure the vast majority will as Wally will be screening the applications before sending them on to James River for binding.
·James River Insurance Company is the Underwriter, policies are not further covered or insured by anyone like Lloyds, AIG, Hartford or anyone else. Claims will be processed and paid directly from James River Insurance. They are an insurance company, not an agent.
·He has communicated to the James River switchboard and the other underwriters that James River does indeed now offer Home Inspector E&O. If folks do call in to James River then they will be directed either to the James River underwriter responsible for HI E&O or to Wally Glaser directly. There really should be no reason inspectors should be calling James River however, all communications should go through Wally Glaser.
·The manager will discuss the possibility of a James River Press Release that more fully describes the offering. This release will depend upon whether James River’s Marketing Dept sees any benefit to that.

If this program is legitimate, more power to you guys. But myself, along with other competitors called James River, we were all told the same thing: "We have no idea what your'e talking about. We don't write E&O insurance for home inspectors." Which makes me skeptical about the quote above.

I know Wally is the point person on this, but I'm trying to figure out who is responsible for paying the claims. James River? I doubt Wally is. They don't make it very clear.

My call to James River just now resulted in me being immediately connected with the correct contact person who reiterated the fact that, yes, they offer HI E&O and that I would need to contact Wally Glaser for assistance.

Cha Ching... the sound of saving money and getting a better product.

I just got this from Wally

Quote:
Hi John,
Hope you saw the information from Mike Boyett which validates the program.
I wanted you to know that under the policy you have there is included contingent BI&PD liability. This provides coverage for a claim that would a rise and cause a bodily injury or property damage from an error or omission. For example if you missed an electrical wire while doing an inspection and it caused the home to burn down or you missed a loosed board on the ground during an inspection and some one got hurt from it or the garage burns down and the car inside the garage is burnt. This is contingent BI&PD and not general liability. General liability insures if you are walking on a roof and you put your foot through the roof or you have a ladder and the ladder punctures a hole inside of a wall. These items are covered under the general liability.

Thanks,

Wally Glaser
