My Professional Liability (E & O) insurance is due for renewal very soon, and I too have been working with Wally lately. Seems like a great guy and great to work with! I will be renewing with his insurance with more coverage than I currently have, while at the same time saving $1,100 compared to my current coverage.

The application process is lengthy but they are only offering this insurance to qualified inspectors who have been in the home inspection business at least 3 years.

I've been working with Wally for my E&O. My company has qualified for this program and it's around $1100.00

Looks like this will be the policy that I go with when my license renewal is up.

Special thanks to Mike Boyett, John McKenna and John Bowman for this.

I'm not happy about E&O being shoved down my throat but this is like having a little honey to help swallow that bitter pill.

Thanks guys.

Mike,

You can find it (Brinks verbiage) on my inspection agreement on my website. Not that you asked for it from me.

Michael,

I am sorry for the delay... I must have missed your request...

Below is the text Brinks requires on your agreement...

Quote:
11. ADDITIONAL TERMS: INSPECTOR does not inspect security systems. Brinks Home Security will provide a free inspection for which we are paid a processing fee. Brinks Home Security will contact you at a later date at the phone numbers you have provided with a special offer.

John M, John O....OK, the discussion a couple of weeks ago centered around my assertion that a Texas HI must divulge to the client that the inspector is receiving a referral fee from Brinks when using this program. There used to be a TREC form that could be used to do that but that form has gone away. You said Brinks had "TREC approved wording" that could be used to notify the client of the referral fee. That is just not accurate...TREC has never approved any Brinks wording like the above clause. That clause does divulge the fact that you are receiving a 'processing fee' so it likely meets the disclosure requirement but its not an official, TREC approved statement. Doesn't need to be though.

Just spoke with Wally. He said that they can NOT write any new policies right now (for about 2 weeks or so) because they are having issues with reinsuracnce?

Anyways, bummer because I am up for renewal on my E/O with another company. I was looking to save some $.
