Default How to avoid so many spammers

Chris and whomever could help with this....

There is a very simple way to prevent spammers from registering. There is a field that is available when you set up the message board that has a line of numbers and letters that the registrant must type in exactly the way they are listed in order to register. This is not hard to do and I see it in alot of other boards.

I would think it would be an excellent idea as I know alot of people are getting fed up with the spam. This will allow the real people to register and prevent the automatic spamming that is going on. I'm pretty sure people don't sit and do this spam by hand. There must be programs they use.

Offical Shellfish Thread Hyjack:

A guy found himself in the mood around bedtime. He began cuddling up
to his wife who was clearly not interested. He asked her what the
problem was.

She complained that he was totally unresponsive to her needs. In
typical male fashion, he protested, then asked what she meant.
She replied, "For example, I'm in the mood for snails right now."
"You've got to be kidding. It's 11 PM; where the 'ell am I going to
get escargot at this hour?!" he protested.

"If you don't care enough to get me snails; you ain't getting any."
We next find our disgruntled husband an the local 24 hour supermarket,
buying a box of live snails. On the way home, as luck would have it,
he stopped to help a lovely young thing with a flat tire; and that's
about all that was flat.

After a few drinks at a local watering hole, he found himself in her
bed, doing what he originally had proposed to his wife. Our wayward
husband was shocked when he woke at 8 AM. He raced home, searching his
mind for an appropriate excuse.

As he approached his front door, he heard his wife walking to the door
from the inside. He quickly dumped the box of snails on the porch and
as the door opened he said, "Come on guys, we're almost there!"

That's awfully harsh, Wendy. A "butt"? You should go wash your mouth out with soap....

Actually, Gerry is a wanker. In his defense, I do not see where he mentioned anything about shellfish. That was some other @ss, er... butt.

Hey Gerry,

If you stopped current inspector members who also post there vendor business related products and services on this board, you wouldn't have a board! The NACHI 100 would become the NACHI 20....

Will,

I agree, but then again I didn't start a thread attacking spammers did I?

Regards

Gerry
