Mikey, moot point, game over, the election is virtually a done deal. Yes, its numerically possible for McCain to eek out win but the poker term "drawing thin" would be an apt description of the Republican's chances today. Hey, there is always 2012 to look forward to.

Palin is now McCain's attack dog(wolf)

Palin says Obama 'palling around' with terrorists

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on Saturday accused Democrat Barack Obama of "palling around with terrorists" because of his association with a former 1960s radical, stepping up the campaign's effort to portray Obama as unacceptable to American voters.

Palin's reference was to Bill Ayers, one of the founders of the group the Weather Underground. Its members took credit for bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol, during the tumultuous Vietnam War era four decades ago. Obama, who was a child when the group was active, served on a charity board with Ayers several years ago and has denounced his radical views and activities.

The Republican campaign, falling behind Obama in polls, plans to make attacks on Obama's character a centerpiece of presidential candidate John McCain's message with a month remaining before Election Day.

By now you would think McCain is smart enough to know that no battle plan survives first contact.

Think about this Mikey irregardless of who wins the presidency...

GOP dread: Dems could hit 60 Senate seats

The possibility that Democrats will build a muscular, 60-seat Senate majority is looking increasing plausible, with new polls showing a powerful surge for the party’s candidates in Minnesota, Kentucky and other states.

A poll out Friday shows Sen. Norm Coleman could now easily lose his Minnesota seat to comedian-turned-candidate Al Franken. A Colorado race that initially looked like a nail-biter has now broken decisively for the Democrats. A top official in the McCain camp told us Sen. Elizabeth Dole is virtually certain to lose in conservative North Carolina.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky has seen his race tighten dangerously close over the past week — and Democrats are considering moving more money into the state very soon. And there is even talk that Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss is beatable in conservative Georgia after backing the economic bailout package opposed by many voters.

“Before the economic crisis, we had a number of races moving our way,” said Matthew Miller, communications director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. “But now we’re seeing Republican numbers plummet.” GOP officials largely agree.

Down to the last four weeks...and it is the electoral votes that matter...and McCain is steadily losing ground and is no longer holding the states that Bush won four years ago, picking up none that Kerry had.

Obama takes big lead in new Minn. poll

Andy BarrSun Oct 5, 1:54 AM ET

A new Minneapolis Star Tribune poll shows Barack Obama opening an expansive lead in Minnesota, which appears to further shrink the electoral map of John McCain.
Some 55 percent of respondents said they support Obama, compared to 37 percent who back McCain. The last Star Tribune Minnesota Poll, conducted in September, showed Obama and McCain deadlocked at 45 percent.

The 18-point improvement comes as 58 percent of respondents said the Illinois senator would do a better job handling the economy while only 30 percent said the same of McCain.

The poll, conducted between September 30 and October 2, is based on 1,084 interviews with likely voters.

While the Star Tribune attributed the surge in part to "an increase in the number of Minnesotans who call themselves Democrats," Republicans questioned the results, and contended the most recent poll surveyed a disproportionately Democratic-leaning group of likely voters, and thus overstated support for Democratic candidates.
“These numbers would be accurate if the Star Tribune had done this poll in New York— not in Minnesota,” Glen Bolger, a pollster for Republican Sen. Norm Coleman said.

A portion of the Minnesota poll released yesterday showed a 13-point jump in support for Democratic comedian-turned-politician Al Franken, who's now taken his first clear lead, 43 percent to 34 percent, against Coleman.

Steven Schier, a political science professor at Carleton College in Minnesota, agreed that the poll seemed to oversample Minnesota Democrats.

“I can’t believe that’s real,” Schier said, predicting that the race will likely end “within five points either way.”

Obama leads McCain in Minnesota by 5 percentage points in the latest RealClearPolitics polling average, which does not include the latest Star-Tribune survey.

The Minnesota poll comes on the heels of news Thursday that the McCain campaign is pulling staff and resources out of Michigan, a reflection of a shrinking electoral map for the GOP ticket.

On Friday, the Obama campaign announced it was expanding its operation in traditionally red Nebraska.

On a conference call Thursday, the McCain campaign mapped out its electoral strategy for the remaining thirty days, with a focus on several states where the RealClear polling averages show Obama in front: Colorado (where Obama has a 4.4-point lead), Wisconsin (5), Pennsylvania (9.6), New Hampshire (5.6), New Mexico (7., Nevada (1.—and Minnesota.

After letting his incompetence and liberalism shine through with that $700,000,000,000 Bailout Bill, it is anything but a shocker that Midwesterners are migrating away from McCain. If we're going to have a flaming liberal idiot running the Oval Office, it might as well be the one running for the correct party.

I agree with you.

Had my Republican Party actually nominated a Republican for its candidate, I would be campaigning for him. Since they didn't, I'm not.

My standards are even stricter- I would only if they *gasp* nominated an actual conservative. Its a waste of time for Liberals and neocons to court my vote, whether it is in support of them or to "vote against" their "dangerous" opponent.

No I didn't but I watched it after you mentioned it. Thanks.

Here it is for anyone who missed it.

Does anyone think that the Democrats are very from from Mr. Moore's views?

Nope.

Biden's Fantasy World
Sarah Palin may not know as much about the world, but at least most of what she knows is true.

In the popular media wisdom, Sarah Palin is the neophyte who knows nothing about foreign policy while Joe Biden is the savvy diplomatic pro. Then what are we to make of Mr. Biden's fantastic debate voyage last week when he made factual claims that would have got Mrs. Palin mocked from New York to Los Angeles?

Start with Lebanon, where Mr. Biden asserted that "When we kicked -- along with France, we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, I said and Barack said, 'Move NATO forces in there. Fill the vacuum, because if you don't know -- if you don't, Hezbollah will control it.' Now what's happened? Hezbollah is a legitimate part of the government in the country immediately to the north of Israel."
The U.S. never kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, and no one else has either. Perhaps Mr. Biden meant to say Syria, except that the U.S. also didn't do that. The Lebanese ousted Syria's military in 2005. As for NATO, Messrs. Biden and Obama may have proposed sending alliance troops in, but if they did that was also a fantasy. The U.S. has had all it can handle trying to convince NATO countries to deploy to Afghanistan.
