ASHI asked its Chapter heads to cover their own insurance costs, due to lack of funds resulting from reduced membership. This was in Feb, I believe.

I guess they ran out of suckers to work for free. Dan is going to be heart broken on this one. Real inspectors get paid for what they do like in NACHI. I guess oldest does not mean best does it Dan!

Dan is too busy bad mouthing us to make up a statement to make ASHI look good. Maybe ASHI is taking a lesson from our Governor (Dimond Jim Doyle) here in Wisconsin. He will not raise taxes, but raising fees on everything is ok. ASHI will fee themselves out of existance.

I don't know if the same is true for other states, but there is a very interesting development in Missouri regarding legislation.

Right now, ASHI members are tightly linked with the real estate salesmen in St. Louis and Kansas City, through their branding efforts with the NAR and MAR.

Accordingly, ASHI members have all the prestige they think they need and oppose licensing since licensing will actually throw them into a bigger pot with ALL licensed inspectors in the state.

ASHI Leaders, on the other hand, are being recruited by ITA to assist them in lobbying for a licensing law that is written with their course curriculum in mind...more or less mandating attendance in one or more of their programs in order to become licensed. These Leaders are being promised big dollars to teach in these classes, once they are mandated and the classes are filled.

Thus, while the membership-at-large is in opposition to licensing, their Leadership is secretly working with the MAR and one particular legislator in an attempt to feather their own nests at the expense of their membership.

They formed a pretend "colation", the Missouri Association of Home Inspectors (MAHI) as a front to this enterprise.

I don't see why the ASHI chapters put up with these guys.

Where did you get the notion that ASHI employees work for free? High payroll expense is more like it. Is it not NACHI that has a gazillion people working for free?
