Does anyone have a specific problem with my suggestion of a non-moderated status for helpful non-members?

Kevin, IMO if you start creating "status" for groups, it will be never ending. You cant limit censorship. You either do it or you don't. Like being "kinda" pregnant! If you start making all these classes, then the vendors will want their own class, etc. etc.
The only way to truly, equitably censor the board is to make it available only to members. I agree, there will probably be a great loss in expertise in the tech boards due to this change. A sad day.

I predict a great increase in members sharing in the technical forums (now that they don't have to fear personal attacks from ASHI members) due to this change. A great day.

"All these classes"? You're embellishing. It's simple. Don't give non-members any access. If they want access to provide helpful information, they can be a "helpful non-member" after meeting the criteria. Vendors can do the same.

Personally in order to put members minds at ease, why not have a special section where all the deleted threads can be put and accessed only by members.

That way we will all as members know that lap dogs or moderators with personal agendas are not being to frisky in killing the MB's life's blood.

make sense?

Who in the heck fears ASHI members? Get serious! There are some members who just need to grow a backbone. They need to stop whining to their mommy (Nick). When are you going stop breast feeding these members, Nick. Do you want a association of members or yellow belly butt kissers?
Never mind, do to NACHI's recent actions you have already answered my question. Sad, but true.

Congratulations........INachi is finally growing up.

When I proposed a similiar measure (3 /4 years ago), I was told .....NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.

After that, every post I made, someone would bash me.

Happy to see the changes

That works good for the helpful non member that come here now...Shunk, Petey, etc.....but how does someone new get in? And I bet even the "established" helpful members would have people that would not like them or argue that they are helpful...

I truly believe that the only way is to either let them in, completely, or keep them out, completely...and the latter will NEVER happen, for reasons known to everyone....

Robert, I don't know for sure, I think you are on to something. But I think the reason a moderator makes a post invisible (sometimes) will be because of a libel issue, and so allowing everyone (not just moderators) to see what was deleted kind of defeats the purpose of having them make the post invisible.... but ask Chris.

I refer you to the first post of this thread for an explanation: http://www.nachi.org/forum/f13/chang...e-board-37006/

Has nothing to do with moderating members posts, so your comment about yellow belly but kissers makes no sense. It has to do with providing an enjoyable message board for members, free from ASHI's personal attacks. If they like ASHI, they can go over to ASHI's mb. No fence here.

Not really as it would not be made public, which is the whole point of this change.

Yet members would if allowed in to a special xxx lounge ,feel they are not getting a O'handjob style forum.

Would keep bas-rd posts from continuing on and scaring members from asking Inspection questions while satisfying rumor mongers from claiming real discussion is being tossed.

Transparency in moderation. (would be unique)

You can make the MB completely visible but not have the ability to post. If a non-member went to make a post, it would say "please register, here's our requirements, etc.".

That's what the moderators are for.

It's really pretty simple and I haven't seen a solid argument against it yet.

I would argue that, how does the "new guy" meet any requirements being a helpful non member poster, before he is allowed to post?
