No disagreement there.
So in your opinion,is it ethical or not to provide this service?

Given the gravity of the issues with ozone, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

Whats next; Radon kills mould because Radon is radioactive and radiation kills moulds?

It does not violate 1.11 of www.nachi.org/coe.htm as I read it, as mold testing is outside our www.nachi.org/sop.htm Controversial topic.

I have contacted TREC and am waiting for their response for us folks in Texas.
I have contacted the company and they said I must sign a non-disclosure form
to receive any information about cost and so forth.

I wish they had some 3rd party endorsement by someone that could stand
good for their amazing claims. But I am willing to give anyone a fair trial.
The jury is out for now.

Nick
Since this is new technology. Why dont you have him do a house for you that has mold and film it before and after. If it works that would be great advertisement for him.

Nick,

I sent these people my signed "non disclosure" agreement and they still will
not send me any info about their product.

Has anyone checked out the price for this system? Over a 3 year period it costs in the neighborhood of $80,000 to $90,000 the way I see it. I think it is like $25,000 for a 3 year license and then 2-3 thousand for each extra generator and then a couple of hundred dollars a year for new bulbs in each generator and $1200 per month to the company. Don't quote these prices but I believe this is what I heard at one of their meetings. I don't have an opinion on their effectiveness, but one would have to do a ton of jobs to break even as a licensee. I have read that generators that do not put out nitrogen bi-products don't harm rubber or wire insulation. Anyone know if that is true?

TREC says this service is a conflict of interest for an inspector
to provide this for their clients. Here is the question I asked TREC:

I came across a service that offers several things that may be a
benefit to people as I do my home inspections.

The web site for this company is here:
http://www.cleanzonesystems.com/

Would it be OK, as a TREC home inspector to provide this
service, along with my home inspection service?

Or, would this be a conflict with the code of ethics and TREC laws.?

The service would be as follows:
sample quote from company website:
************************************************** *********************

CleanZone Systems™ uses a new patent pending ultraviolet light technology to produce
ozone in concentrations unmatched by other portable generators. With outputs of up to
159ppm, *our generators are strong enough to eradicate:*

* *Toxigenic or Black Mold
*such as Stachybotrys Chartarum
* * Unpleasant Odors
*smoke, mildew, pets
* * Viruses and Bacteria
*Streptoccocus, Staph Aureus (including MRSA), Salmonella, E.coli,
Listeria, Anthrax and more
* * Pests
*termites, dust mites, cockroaches, bedbugs, lice and mice

The ultraviolet light process is clean, efficient, and leaves your property free of bacteria,
viruses, allergens. and toxigenic mold
************************************************** **********************

I am not a mold inspector, or pest control inspector and offer none
of these services during my home inspection.

Thanks for your help,

TREC Answer Below:
Quote:
This service sounds like something that would be offered to someone who
already owns the property being inspected, rather than to a prospective
buyer. If this is the case, and the client has not ordered the inspection
in anticipation of selling the property, then TREC would not have
jurisdiction over the transaction.

However, if these services were performed for a buyer or seller, they would
constitute maintenance and would fall under the prohibition against
repairing, replacing, maintaining or upgrading systems or components covered
by the standards of practice within 12 months of the date of the inspection.
(See Section 535.220(e)(6) of the Rules of the Texas Real Estate
Commission.)

TREC cannot say whether this service would require any license(s) from the
Texas Department of State Health Services (for mold) and/or the Texas
Department of Agriculture (for wood-destroying insects). You would need to
contact those agencies to determine whether this service would violate any
of the laws or rules they enforce.

We hope this information is helpful to you.
