OK, for those of you that are having problems, I'd like to remind you that home inspectors are supposed to be able to do a root-cause-analysis!

The next clue should give it away, but for those of you that don't get it, check out the question again, along with the type of inspection I was doing, and where I live.

If Thomas Edison had had his way,
we'd not need this scope today.
Nikola Tesla's ideas eventually won
so all these buildings have a least one.
What's produced give inspectors ire,
but not if we find the proper wire.

(Maybe the one's who think outside the box might like to check out some of my Social media sites.)

Since you used Nikola Tesla's name in your clue, is it some form of electrical meter?

Wayne's personal clock.

It's easier for him to tell time without the other hand and those number thingys.

synchcroscope for spinning up a hydroelectric turbine.

Strange coincidence there is a nice blog post on it here http://leninkster.com/archives/84

Thanks for sharing

P.S. I went to the Hydro stations at Niagara Falls and Hoover Dam last year. I didn't get to see one of those in my walkthrough.

Chad, You had the right idea, but Chuck with what looks to be some help from that Blog he went to got the right name.

It is indeed a Synchroscope, invented by Paul Martyn Lincoln (Paul Martin/Abraham Lincoln from the first clue) who founded Lincoln Meter of Toronto and Lincoln Meter of Springfield Illinois (again from the first clue)

Home Inspectors may see meters from Lincoln as they still make Electricity demand meters in the U.S.

It does indeed help in the Synchronization process of introducing an A/C generator into an existing supply.

Sorry I don't have any goodies to give out, but you get a big gold star for guessing.

The one in the Picture was the main generator hall Synchroscope, in the Birch-Rankine Hydro Electric Generator Station as part of a Commercial Heritage site visit for the local Council. This station still has all the generator components in. You can see more on my blog.

Thanks for playing, it was a bit of fun and gave me something to do rather than go out in the snow!
