John,

Waht's a Commericanl?

Save my seat if approved for TREC CE.

Heck, I'll probably take this even if it's not approved, just for grins.

Joe,

Seems this would be better suited to at least 16 hr.
There is a lot involved in the varied commercial world.

Now, listen, you Texans.

Joe is from New York City and is a stranger to the ways of prairie. Be gentle with him and humor him as he milks his first chicken and stump-brakes his first cow. He's a-just wantin' tuh fit in, ya know?

And DON'T beat him up. He is just a New Yorker and doesn't know about REAL Bar-B-Q sauce .

But he does teach a good course, take it from me. Well worth it. I recieved no state approved CE credit. I drove 100 miles, into another state (Beyond the Cheddar Curtain) to take his Well Sampling course. I paid full price.

I was not disappointed.

I will be doing the same for this same course, in our area.

Hope this helps;

I just happened to be at a TREC Inspectors Committee meeting today, I just happened to attend the Education Sub-Committee meeting, The TREC staff that reviews and approves CE courses was there as well. I just happened to ask if she knew of the NACHI application for approval for this course. She said no....someone at NACHI HQ better get on the stick and get the proper paperwork turned in asap if they want this approved for Jan. Hopefully that has already been done recently and it was just not 'in the system' at TREC just yet.

Barry,

When it comes to commercial inspections, it's easy to get lost in the sauce. We intentionally trimmed it to 8 hours to make it affordable, and provide relevent information relative to the process.

The process is as important as anything else. We had some experienced commercial inspectors learning from this class. And, we have a good time.

Michael... as to TREC. I spoke to Sylvia Busk just yesterday. First question is whether Texas would approve a commercial course (NY wont). They will, so we are in the process of submitting it. NACHI is already an approved education provider. It's in the works. I wanted John to be careful to NOT give the impression that the course was approved, but that we will submit it for approval. It's a quality course. I think it will fly.

Now, just because your real estate salespeople decide to recognize this course for their pet home inspectors, don't run out and try to get commercial inspections to fall under your present licenses, guys.

This very lucrative business (for many, it is outselling their home inspection business two-to-one) is something you are able to do without a license.

I know that is scary to some folks...but to the strong of heart, it is a new and unrestricted way to grow yourself right out from under the control of the real estate agents in Texas.

Go for it.
