Geez - you mean someone in leadership (probably an appointed position) is in violation of the rules they are supposed to uphold and there is no accountability?
I am shocked! |

I think this is an on-going problem (nailing down renewal fees) at NACHI.
In reviewing hte tax documents that were posted somewhere, I noted that in 2004, NACHI claimed just under 4,100 members (or thereabouts - going from memory) but posted only enough income to have collected dues from about 2,600 (at $289 each). 1,500 unpaid membership is A LOT and would indicate that this is not an unusual occurence. It may be a simple oversight, but when it occurs 1500 times, well....something should be corrected. |

Nick I know about the member you are talking about they are not on the list. The list is members that are advertising to be home inspectors who have let there Certification expire, or have Died, 2 of them even show up as having there certification Revoked. How can NACHI keep advertising and standing up for 2 people who show they have had there certification revoked. Nick you know me I have gone to the BTR and Deffended this organization when you were just starting to get members out here I have allways given you straight information and deffended NACHI in this state even against great odds. These 21 members I listed are Not legal in AZ. Do you want me to let the BTR sort this out? I think we need to sort it out ourselves without other organizations using this to discredit us as an unprofessional organization.

Michael,
Turn them in. They are responsible to remove themselves from the Featured Inspectors list if they are not qualified in accordance with NACHI's coe's. If they are breaking the state law then they are in violation of NACHI's coe's, and should be duly reported. Please have all the necessary paperwork showing that they are in violation, including a recent statement from the State showing that they are not in compliance. Websites are only as good as the people that maintain them. Please do not use the information on them as gospel. Last edited by jbowman; 6/6/06 at 5:12 PM.. |

That's a good point. Washington State has been at least 3-4 months behind in putting the licensed pest inspectors up on their site.

It's kind of like painting the Golden Gate Bridge. You start at one end of the membership, call them, email them, check them out, delete some of them, and by the time you get to the end of the membership list it is time to start again.

John why would you encourage Michael to turn his list to the State when I believe all he is asking is to forward the list to NACHI so the names can be removed at NACHI? The State already has all the members on the list categorized. What is the upside in telling the State that NACHI can not keep track of active/legal members? |

Brian,
NACHI could never and does not ever keep track of who is or who is not legal by state law. That is each members responsibility. Hence the COE's. Can you imagine keeping track of E&O, etc. for those in states that require it. |

In addition, who says that someone can not belong to an organization as either an owner, apprentice, candidate, or working member.
Like I said earlier, it is their individual responsibility to remove themselves from the featured members area if they are not qualified. But just maybe perhaps a potential client calls and the member says, excuse me, mr caller, but I am not qualified under Arizona Laws to perform Home Inspections. However I do recommend Inspector, such and such, whom I mentor underneath in order to obtain my HI Liscense in this state. Please contact him by calling....... You get the idea. |

Members that have kept up thier CEU's? Please no Tax status answers. The State has already made the determination John, did you not read that? Michael has compiled a list and it seems that if it was forwarded to NACHI they could easily check status and take care of inactive members. I do not like the idea you encouraging a current active member to "drop a dime" on perhaps former NACHI members because they are still listed on a NACHI web site somewhere. Great now they are going to be fined by the state too. NEATO. Is this in the bylaws somewhere? |

Sorry folks--I'm in the middle of a move and have been even more busy than normal. Internet is getting installed tomorrow (I'm stealing my neighbor's wifi right now) and my office desk comes on Thursday. Hopefully by the beginning of next week my whole office will be set up and I can devote my full attention back to NACHI. I haven't had a chance to read this whole thread over, but I'll try to do things once I have a chance to breathe... Right now I'm just focused on getting silly things like a bed and a kitchen table
As for long needed tech help--I should soon have three people with different specialties working in the IT dept. very soon. You all were introduced to Michael a while ago who's mostly around for behind-the-scenes work (like keeping our servers running, etc). Daniel will be handling some more visible web programming work, and Beccah (a long-time NACHI staffer), who has recently completed a web design class, will also be focusing more on IT work. Sorry for the trouble--I realize that I'm often unresponsive to posts/e-mails. Hopefully that'll change soon.
