All,
I guess I haven't been paying attention to the news lately. What was the reason behind changing organization name form NACHI to InterNACHI? I guess NAHI is behind it. Look at their home page: www.nahi.org Can someone please fill in some details? I have had a couple of clients bring it up - must've been talking to one of the NAHI guys. Generally speaking I don't have any association wars to fight in my back yard. We all pretty much tell clients that aside from experience, etc. make sure your inspector is a member of one of the "big 3" associations: ASHI, NAHI or NACHI (InterNACHI). Thoughts? |

I would hardly call an 890 member association managed by a for profit company owned by its own Executive Director one of the "big 3" but ...
Regardless of what they claim, it had nothing to do with the for-profit mini-association out of Minneapolis that permits preferred vendor schemes and permits its members to offer repair services to correct defects they find on their own inspections. Long ago (long before the "spend all membership money on lawsuits instead of benefits" mini-association came along) we realized that we were going international. So years ago we formed the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors, Inc. We also received Federal Tax Exempt status http://www.nachi.org/inachitaxexempt.htm years ago. We also realized we needed a new International logo. So we had a logo contest. Check the date on this archived message board where we had the $1,000 InterNACHI logo contest http://www.nachi.org/bbsystem/viewto...9032&start=120 and compare the winning logo to the one we use now. Anyway, I'm glad we did go international. Last week for instance, we announced a new chapter in Brazil http://www.nachi.org/forum/f13/international-association-certified-home-inspectors-opens-brazilian-chapter-sao-paolo-26850/ and one in Sudan http://www.nachi.org/forum/f13/new-international-association-certified-home-inspectors-chapter-sudan-using-international-association-certified-home-inspectors-tv-home-inspection-videos-educate-countrys-first-inspectors-26945/#post333020 InterNACHI.... inspecting the world!
