Default Full-time facilities inspector position opening in New Jersey.

Chugach Industries, Inc., a subsidiary of Chugach Alaska Corporation, is a worldwide leader in government contracting and facilities management.
CII has a successful track record for managing, operating and maintaining military installations as well as government and commercial facilities. Our support services include everything from construction, maintenance and repair to engineering, consulting, scientific and environmental, logistics, information technology, as well as integrated customer relations management.

We have a long-term facilities management contract to manage Public Works, Information Technology, Logistics, Environmental and Safety at Picatinny Arsenal near Wharton Township in Morris County, N.J.

We are currently seeking to hire an experienced Facilities Inspector/Civil Engineering Technician as an addition to our growing Engineering and Planning staff.

Summary/General Description of Job:
Responsible for the inspection of buildings and facilities as well as assisting in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of civil engineering technology.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:
· Reviews project specifications and confers with Civil Engineer concerning assistance required, such as plan preparation, evaluation of field conditions, design changes, and reports.
· Applies engineering knowledge necessary to conduct inspections of sites.
· Prepares reports detailing Facility Inspections.
· Surveys project sites for inspection as needed, using maps and surveying equipment.
· Drafts detailed dimensional drawings such as those needed for structural steel fabrication.
· Calculates dimensions and quantities of materials such as steel, concrete, and asphalt, using calculator.
· Supports the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and attention to the adherence to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills.
· Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed.

Job Requirements (Education, Skills & Experience):
Mandatory:
· US Citizenship
· Valid state driver’s license, with acceptable driving record.
· Verbal and written communication skills
· 2 years of experience as a working drafter, surveyor, and/or facilities/buildings inspector
· The ability to complete accurate sketches and drawings from field surveys

Preferred:
· Associates Degree in facility Design
· Proficient in Micro-station and Auto Cad
· Knowledge of ADA and Army regulations or ability to find and use them
