That's good Will, one more question, what type of camera do you use?

Good old FLIR B-Cam, the red one, not ne the new yellow one. The new one is better (and less expensive!). I wish I had a new one (with the NACHI discount). BUT, I had to go all 'bleeding edge" and all .

Had to blot out the "FLIR" logo, as I am submitting this course to the state for CE licensing and they don't like corporate logos and marketing.

I will be presenting the course in Toronto. Everyone invited. Come on up. Sort of a 'test drive'. I would invite critique and helpful comments.

I will provide a copy of the Power Point to anyone who wants it (After Toronto) <--- Please Note: Because everyone knows that HI's can't read

Will, can you take a picture on a roof and detect leaks with shingles from on top?

Around toilets inside of the home?

I am close to buying one and am also going to market to the local power companies within a 60 mile radius. I have been told there is a market to shoot their transformers, and sub=stations.. Also am going to try to hit all the hospitals to get their ccu, and life saftey panels, as well as the local factories..For electrical, roofing, motor calcs, etc..

How far is the nearest airport from you? I may fly up one day if invited.

I just had a sales Rep tell me that the basic difference is
the BCAM SD can hold approx. 1000 images vs 50 images.
(who needs that many for a home inspection?)

and...

If you look at the two images... the SD looks a "little"
sharper. That's about it, from what he said.

That is basically what you are paying an extra $1000 for.

I think I will save the $1000 too and start out with the
regular BCAM. I have a local Rep that will help show
me the basics to operate camera and software.

Then I will have to look at my options for some
training.

Tip - pay for it with a credit card and then let one
of those new credit offers transfer that amount
at the 0% introduction offer. You will basically
be buying it interest free, if you pay it off within
one year. Just a thought.

If the thermal imaging service increases your
business by just one inspection per month,
it will be paid for in one year.

This service should separate you from the crowd
and cause Clients to choose you above the rest.

I am thinking of marketing the entire thing as another business instead of incorporating it into the inspection business. I will stilll use it in inspecting, but my thought process is that it may be more beneficial tax wise to go a different business. As well as marketing it to factories, etc... What do you guys think?

True... if you market it as a trouble spot service with the
regular inspection service... it helps sell your home inspections.

Then if someone wants the full mapping of the house, you
can add an extra fee for that.

As far as marketing to factories, electric utility companies, etc...
you may want to talk to Will and consider taking the Level 1
certification in order to communicate the data along with
the IR images.

But don't listen to me,,, I know enough to be ignorant right now.
