I came across this story yesterday and had not heard about it before. Does anyone have other info available or an opinion on what's happening to these two men?

A pull quote:

In 2006, none have suffered worse for doing good than Border Patrol agents Ignacio “Nacho” Ramos, 37, and Jose Alonso Compean, 28. In August, the pair received 11 and 12 years in prison, respectively, for trying to stop a drug smuggler from entering the country.

It's about time.

Bush commutes sentences of former US border agents

WASHINGTON (AP)

- In his final acts of clemency, President George W. Bush on Monday commuted the prison sentences of two former U.S. Border Patrol agents whose convictions for shooting a Mexican drug dealer ignited fierce debate about illegal immigration. Bush's decision to commute the sentences of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who tried to cover up the shooting, was welcomed by both Republican and Democratic members of Congress.

They had long argued that the agents were merely doing their jobs, defending the American border against criminals. They also maintained that the more than 10-year prison sentences the pair was given were too harsh.

I think that is great news! While the two agents didn't do everything right at the time of the shooting I never thought they deserved the punishment they received.

Many pay up to $10,000

At $100 ea. = $2,000,000 on devices.

I think I find a better use for that cash if I was Mexican!

Their biggest mistake was shooting the illegal immigrant drug dealer in the butt. Who'd a thought two law enforcement agents would get 10 years for such nonsense.

Cheers! for their release....
